I have an LG Chocolate and so far it's been pretty good. It sometimes goes down to 1 bar for reception but the conversation quality stayed the same.

If you buy the package with the micro sd card and blue tooth head set its a great deal. I couldn't believe the Chocolate in Calgary was cheaper than in Hong Kong. Crazy. Wish they had the White Chocolate here though.

I still prefer my wifes Samsung phone that she bought in HK, but they don't have that model here. The D900.

They do now... but aren't you the one that doesn't like Telus?

I still don't like Telus. I would have picked up that samsung too in HK but I need to keep my phone number. I guess porting is coming in 2 months! hehe.

and stop with this telus rah rah crap. Yes we know you work for them. Both my cousins who live with me work for telus and they used to spew this propaganda to me every day. Every since they moved up into management and are not unionized anymore they actually think Telus could use some improvements. shocking!

I don't recall ever saying "rah rah" or anything of the sort. As a matter of fact, I'm not in management and I know that Telus could use some improvements, just like all the other carriers as well. I'm just trying to help people...

and you are doing a great job. Not sure why you had to remind the board of my dislike for Telus. I even mentioned you had a good product!

I thought it odd that you're looking for a product that Telus carries when you want to get away from them. That's all. My personal opinion is that the chocolate is crap, but to each their own.

Oh man, Im jealous. Right now, as I sit here on the computer, on the main floor of my house, my Chocolate is beside me with that one tiny bar(that looks more like a period) showing. And thats usually as high as it gets, alot of the time its on 0 bars. I called up Telus about 20 minutes ago and they told me to take it in to the dealership where I bought it(Future Shop) to see if they can fix it. I really hope so, Im extremely disappointed with the phone right now. When I first bought it, I couldnt stop playing with it, I loved it, and I was jokingly givin all my Razr buddies a tough time about the superiority of my phone. Now its backfired, they all give me a hard time about how crappy mine is due to the awful reception. They think Ive bought a lemon(Im starting to wonder myself).

http://www.telusmobility.com/ab/paya..._lg_8500.shtml

I could find many more cheap phone but I don't have time right now. BTW you can swap your own phone online for $10 at mytelusmobility.com rather than paying $25 in a store.
Oh wow, I didn't even know these existed!! Thank you very much!!!

PRL 7065 is a old EVDO PRL that has been replaced by PRL 10065 if your phone is a LG 8500, KRZR, a720, a950, or a UT STARCOM 6700 or it is PRL 11065 if your phone is LG 8100, Motorola Q, RAZR (purchased after Nov. 16 2006), PALM 700w or Blackberry 8703. If KEN0042 updates the PRL it should change to 11065.

If your handset is a 1x handset the current prl is 7061

Hmm, it went to 10065.

Not sure if that's good or bad.

I have a V3c purchased before Nov 16 2006, and after running the PRL upgrade, I ended up with 7065, it was 11065 before... why would telus roll back by roaming list? I know that usually when doing that, if you have the current PRL, the OTASP system will let you know and not do anything.

Then I assume your phone is any one of the following:
1)LG 8500(chocolate)
2) Motorola KRZR
3) Samsung a720
4) Samsung a950
5) UT STARCOM 6700

It's not a bad thing because you now have the most up to date PRL.

Thats really strange that it was 11065 before because they say that the new PRL will be shipped in all phones starting January 2007. I'll have to look into that. Though there should be very little effect on phone performance.

The new PRL will-
Introduce EVDO roaming on larger U.S. networks; Sprint and Verizon EVDO
networks
Updated roaming partner’s information
Optimized, faster system acquisition
Minimize the handset getting stuck on unusable systems

Hmm that update still hasn't fixed my problem. It goes from 2 bars and every so often it says leaving network then it goes to 5 bars... slowly to 2 bars. And when I talk on the phone I can talk for say.... a minute or two before I get "call is lost" I tried calling Telus, and all he said was, "Buddy, I'd suggest you get a new phone" haha maybe it is time!!!
