once I heard that the WHA version was included this is actually pretty close to the team I would have predicted (except maybe the 4th line)...and with Al Hamilton as the Oil foundational player (or whatever they are called) Sjoberg is sort of in line with that - admittedly a strange choice at first glance (I thought he might make the team in the 'regular' capacity)...Bobby Hull or Tomas Steen are the ones I thought might go there- although I could see why they wanted the Hull/Swede line intact
agree with troutman on the 3 names he listed as some of the longest toiling original jets- could have seen Smail on the 4th line for example over Christian..and I thought Paul MacLean would be there somewhere
Those first two lines are killer. And I had forgotten about Sjoberg. I liked his hockey card for some reason.
This team not a total joke except for the goaltending.
Helle in 4 years is a vezina finalist and should win it this year with the joke of a blue line in front of him. How Paul Maclean isnt on there is just head scratching.
Frick - some of those old Jets names back in the 80's and 90's brings back my hatred for the Jets. They always find a way to mess up the Flames route in the playoffs, except for 86 and 89 for which they got swept by the Flames or did not make the playoffs. All I could think of was how excited I was when the Flames snatched Selanne from the Jets only to have him snatched back by that team immediately after.
Jets were more of a force with both Byfuglien and Myers than without them. Both are big with big shots on the right side. When Byfuglien got injured, the Jets are still big and tough on the D with Myers. Always like Meyer from his days in Buffalo and hoping the Flames could and would have gotten him, but the Jets...
Guess I'm a sucker for a big right shot d-man. He plays big (true to his size), moves the puck quite well, skates well, and he's got a big shot from the point.
