I love looking through the other teams' lineups and seeing familiar names. Detroit had I think 4 future NHL coaches or executives (Yzerman, Gallant, MacLean, Nill)

Oddly enough my favorite part is seeing screenshots of specific games with old teams and jerseys.

I like looking at the scoring leaders and seeing several players pacing to have well over 100 points.

I still have mine. 2 of each. I remember buying one of the Fleury ones for $1.50 off a guy who really wanted a bag of chips at long break in Junior high one day. No idea if a hockey card is even worth that much anymore. But it's a collectible, and has a story, so for me it's worth the money I spent.

Yep, agreed. Love seeing it from a cumulative perspective as well as it's always fun to see who slowed down or heated up. I know Nicholls had a great year in '89 but I didn't realize he was pretty much neck and neck with Gretz that year. I think when all said and done, The Great One had about 18 point on him. Don't know if you frequent hockey-reference at all, but there is actually a Cumulative Games feature on their Play-Index site--really cool feature once you get the gist of it.
I will also plug this thread as well. This is easily one of the threads of the year, and it's a shame that more folks aren't seeing it here. The materials being shared here are some that I didn't even realize existed anymore. From an archival perspective, IMO, hockey is severely lacking. I mean, finding historic boxscores was nearly impossible to do up to 2-3 years ago.

Thanks for the comments. It was interesting to hear how people are enjoying different aspects of the posts.
As I'm looking at the material and prepping it for today's post, it's clear from a note in this upcoming game that a bit of giddiness was setting in (then and now) as the long road trip continued and the season and this thread approaches game 50. However, I decided to leave it in and I have to admit, that as much as I appreciate the current comments, I would trample over the top of some of you for one of those hot dogs right now.
Game 47 at the top of the hour as usual.

bit of an LOL on the all star voting, but the Flames issue is pretty obvious- they have the 87-88 and 88-89 first team all star RWs splitting votes- mind you combine them and you still don't get Kurri..and then dmen 3-5 in the voting- that was a classic vote split there. oh well go LA and EDM I guess
man that fleury is just the cure for what ails people eh? Hunter and Hrdina had both been struggling off and on- now they line up with Theo and there's 4 goals for Mark Hunter

I had forgot that Roy didn't play that game and that was sort of the asterisk placed next to what was otherwise a pretty nice statement win for the Flames
Troutman won't be surprised that the PPs tipped in MTLs favour

Is there a good source of watching complete classic games and series?
Man, I miss NHL vault that was out there during the lockout I think.

That is so cool that Montreal was all in on a bid for an NFL team back then. Literally didn't know that until this thread.
