It sure was. But I tend to recall the “chokes” that happened in a single instant.

That’s why the Smith and Buckner ones are so memorable.

Smith laying on the ice bawling tells you all you need to know about whether he considered himself a goat over that.

Surprised no mention of the Roy Halladay NTSB report . I had no idea Halladay had substance abuse issues. I'm sure the continuous motion took a toll, but for Halladay of all people to abuse painkillers, probably means to me a lot of guys are on something. This stuff has become the norm in sports, but after hearing about Halladay, I'm still pretty shocked.

that's really sad- too young, although I hadn't realized (or forgot) that he had been diagnosed with cancer years ago- while I think of his double play mate as Alfredo Griffin primarily, really tragic to think he then paired with Fernandez also gone too soon

one of those rare guys in the 80s who had played with both the Blue Jays and the Expos

a classic leadoff man of that era that wouldn't meet the bar anymore, high batting average but no walks, lots of steals but not a great success rate

Just watching the 2015 ALDS replay and EE just hit the game tying home run (2-2) in the bottom of the 6th, I forgot how huge that home run was because until that point the Jays weren't doing much with the bats. He absolutely SMASHED that ball, holy.

Also forgot about Saunders getting ejected from the game, odd call by the 3rd base umpire because everyone in the dugout was screaming at the umps, perhaps he was just an easy sacrificial lamb as he wasn't playing in the game and they needed to send a message.

The most amazing inning of baseball ever played IMO.
Martins throw off the bat...never seen it happen before or since and likely never will.

I had forgotten about the 3 errors though. I remembered the drop at 3rd.

Just nuts what went on to produce 3 outs.

I still get chills watching that home run. That crowd was so crazy, the cameras were shaking. It's truly hard to comprehend how crazy that inning was as it had literally everything:
Here is what that inning had:

 Top of the inning:
Not just a lead change but a lead change on a crazy 1 in a million play
Umpire got the play wrong initially, reversed the call which is also pretty rare
Gibbons gets irate, doesn't get ejected (also rare)
Player on the bench (Saunders) gets ejected
Fans throw stuff on the field
Scenes of moms crying as they are clutching their newborns who are also crying
Gibbons issues a protest, also rare

 Bottom of the inning:

3 consecutive errors to load the bases. (that throw by Moreland was so so bad).
Pompey interfering with the catcher with his sweeping slide.
Another Umpire Review on said slide
Hamels leaves the game with the bases loaded having given up precisely 0 hits.
Blooper by Donaldson just squeaking past Odors glove tie game.
Bautista 3 run home run with the greatest bat flip of all time.
Fans are still throwing things onto the field
EE at the plate trying to calm crowd down, Dyson says something, Benches clear
4 Toronto PD officers now on the field to remove a fan next to the Jays dugout.
Play literally stops and Rangers are sitting on the field stretching.
Tulo pops out with two on, third out inning over right? but its NOT OVER
Somehow during commercial break the benches clear again!

That was the craziest inning of baseball I have, and likely will ever witness.

EDIT: That was also Josh Hamiltons final game of baseball of his career.

I PVRed it and I'm watching it right now. I never liked Jeff Banister after seeing him push a batboy but man was he a big whiner.

I was lucky enough to be at that game and it was insane. My wife and I were going to Ontario to visit her family and decided while sitting in the airport to pull the trigger on tickets for game 5, figuring that if the Jays were eliminated before that we'd get our money back and if not it would be worth it. It certainly was.

If the Jays had lost I seriously think there would have been a riot after. We were wondering how were going to get out of the area. And then Joey Bats happened. Never going to forget that moment.

If they had deemed Pompey interfered and called it a double play, I'm not sure that game would have continued.

I missed the first but recorded the second two. Man, does home and away really change memorable games. Watching the last two in dismal, away team atmospheres had me off both in minutes.

It gives a potential preview of what it might look like with crowd-less games once the season starts if it starts prior to a vaccine.

100%. That Royals team might be the weakest to ever win the World Series. They pretty much rode luck(BABIP) all the way to the World Series. I still get irritated thinking about game 6, and the Jays having the bases loaded with nobody in the 9th, but the ump forgetting where the strike zone was and giving all the calls to Davis. Shenanigans I tell you.
