Islanders acquire Hellebuyck

The Isles announced today that they acquired goaltender Connor Hellebuyck from the Devils in exchange for forwards Anders Lee and Sasha Chmelevski, along with a first-round pick in the 2021 draft.

As part of the deal, the Islanders are no longer owed a second-round pick by the Devils next year.

Good deal. I had Lee for a while and he struggled. I don't think he shot the lights out last season for Goffie either. Let's see what he can do in NJ.

Hellebuyck is a tremendous acquisition for NYI.

Hellebuyck got outplayed by Koskinen in the regular season and couldn't get the job done in the playoffs, so we sent him where goalies go to die...JK

But we feel one of Koskinen or Samsonov can hopefully have a good rating and hold the fort, or there is usually an older vet available during the season.

Nice trade Scorp. It is a little risky making trades right now because you never know what the rerates will bring about but Hellebuyck should be the exception to that.
