It's too bad CSEC can't just not pay Monahan for all the shifts he's missed!

A player on the team and player wife reached out to me. Even though CSEC announced they'll compensate part-time employees, they still want the money to go towards arena workers. I'll work with them to distribute the money raised to workers as best as we can.
The team and their significant others really got behind this campaign. Newfound respect for the players on this team.

That’s awesome. This is a bad PR look for the Flames but I’m sure proud as hell of our fans and players for stepping up. We have some amazing people here in Calgary. Instead of saying I’m no longer a fan because of the owners, I’m choosing to say I’m still a fan because of the community and the city.
If the owners don’t want to be a part of that group that’s on them.

Amazing. As it should be. Min wage folks deserve a little extra from time to time and this time is the best time for it. Awesome work with all this GoFlamesGo.

I too am happy the millionaires came out in support, but let's not pretend its really them at fault here. They shouldnt be on the hook because their deadbeat billionaire boss didnt want to be. Murray Edwards could have funded all of the wages of employees without feeling the impact on his fortune at all. Mentioning nothing about the other ultra rich owners of this franchise too. Just loathsome behavior.

I get the lesser amount from guys like dube, mangiapane, who are playing on less than 1 mil contracts. But the lesser amount from Monahan, and the no show from lindy and johnny are making me think that some of those rumblings about contract unhappiness have legs.

I find it hard to believe any of these players would take contract frustration out on the arena workers during a pandemic. Much more likely they have other things to focus on at the moment. NJ is shutdown and we all know Gaudreau Sr. Has health issues. Let's not judge as we don't know what's going on with each person.

And the "Ward family" just kicked in $500. Assuming that's Geoff Ward them good on him. If not then good on the other other Ward.

I figured this would happen. Players being shamed for not donating enough or not donating to the causes fans want them to.
Let's not do that.

I think Nenshi said on the radio this morning that all part-time and hourly shift workers are eligible to get EI benefits immediately and should apply ASAP.

I 100% agree with this.
It’s not about who did or who didn’t donate. Players were’t expected or had to donate. It’s not their responsibility or job. Applaud the players who did and move on.
There’s a ton of negatively in the world right now. Let’s focus on the good and positive.

Well Flames, this is probably the screw-up you don't come back from. After years of mediocre hockey, I was hanging by a thread through the Gulutzan era. Loyalty, good memories and pride in the organization have kept me a fan through some terrible games - but no more.
The about-face is a PR move and I'm disgusted by their first actions. I'm glad to hear that they're doing the minimum possible to help employees, but I am ashamed in cheering for this team none-the-less. As was mentioned earlier, the true character reveals itself when you think you won't get caught - and I think they thought this would slide.
Whenever hockey returns, it better be damn good or I'm out. To leave fans with this taste in their mouth while the return of hockey is TBD? This is the memory I will carry with me until you're back on the ice, Flames - and it's a very poor one. As it stands today, I'm ashamed to have cheered for this team - and it's going to be a long uphill battle to win be back. For what it's worth Flames, you may have lost a life-time fan. Disgusting.
I will be keeping tabs of all the companies whose billionaire owners thought more of keeping in the green during an outbreak than what they can do for the employees that make them wealthy. I will avoid working with any company that reveals it's ugly-side in this. The world is going to be a lot different in the coming months, and a lot of unethical scumbags are going to be exposed and publicized finally. Calgary Flames, you're first up in my life.
It's time to open your wallets and stop looking at your stocks. We're all ####ed. Help out.

Why would Lindholm be unhappy here? He's lifted his previously-stagnating career to new highs and become an elite two-way winger. I wouldn't read into who hasn't donated too much at all.

Publicly donated no less
Nothing to say that he has (or should be under any obligation to) donated privately. Weird in any case this is somehow a negative
