Referring to strictly the NHL.
So we're anticipating a league wide ban on attendance for a temporary period from Bettman and co to try to get ahead of the spread? Yeah I could see that. Go a couple weeks with it, then re-assess the situation and decide from there.
No matter what, they're going to have to get creative in order to finish this season and playoffs on schedule.

Honestly I would be shocked if things play out as planned (regular season and 4 7-game rounds).

Of course the year Edmonton is successful despite an unsustainable level of play, the season/playoffs might get cancelled?
Maybe hockey gods do exist? Kinda extreme measures to take tho.

Nice to see the blue jackets leading the charge... I wonder if the league tries to implement some some form of ppv for playoffs.

So if an attendance ban goes through and revenue is decimated for the league will we see the cap go down?
Could be a painful offseason if so.

it will just be prorated or assumed... they wouldn't drop it on a one of force majeure type of event

I wonder if they pump some fake crowd noise to make it not so weird for the players. It'll be pretty strange for the players to play a full tilt game in a practice ice atmosphere.

How much credit do you want to give them? The Governor recommended they play without fans, the Blue Jackets said no, then the Governor said, fine we'll order it and now they agreed.
I don't see TV ratings being that great. 20,000 extra wanting to watch on TV doesn't move the needle much, and it's going to be tough to get too into games with no fans. It will be a curious spectacle at first, but I'd guess interest would diminish over the course of it.

Listening to Tim & Sid, and it sounds like a football player in Italy tested positive for Coronavirus... so I guess that's it for that team for at least a month?
Any team in the NHL I'd imagine the schedule derails pretty quickly if just one player tests positive right?

Without fans in stadiums, players will need to adjust. Goal celebrations are to be directed to camera 3A. Careful what you scream because you're mic'd up without crowd noise.

So every team is saying that season ticket holders will get a refund if and when games are played without fans, what about people like me who buy on Ticketmaster? I foolishly bought tickets to the game in Calgary on March 23rd, I assume I would just get a refund?

Cameras can be controlled remotely, so operators needn't be in the building.
BONUS: With empty arenas, the possibility of hella cool drone cameras flying about.

Sharks Sports & Entertainment is today announcing an update to events scheduled at SAP Center at San Jose through April 1, 2020.
All three San Jose Sharks games (March 19 vs. Montreal, March 21 vs. Boston and March 29 vs. Arizona) will be played as scheduled at SAP Center but will be closed to the general public.
Admission to games will be limited to home and visiting club personnel, approved credentialed media and broadcast partners, essential club and arena staff, and NHL officials.
All three Sharks games will be broadcast on television on NBC Sports California and via audio feed on the Sharks+SAP Center app, 98.5 FM KFOX and the Sharks Radio Network.
The same policy will apply for the San Jose Barracuda games scheduled for March 17 vs. Colorado and March 22 vs. Bakersfield.
The ticketing department will work with ticket holders on appropriate credits or refunds for these affected games. Single-game buyers will receive a refund through their point of purchase. We will be communicating to ticket holders, partners and other affected parties with additional information soon.
The safety of our fans, guests and partners is of the utmost importance. Sharks Sports & Entertainment and SAP Center management greatly appreciate your understanding during this unprecedented time.
