@Flames: Give me a free season ticket in the lower bowl and I'll live-stream the games from my phone, and just that alone will already be about about 33% better than any SNET broadcast. Give Ball and Hrudey seats on either side of me and just let them enjoy watching the game and chatting with each other over me, and that will be your "on-air personality" part. Another 33% quality increase over current broadcasts. Have Ryan Leslie come see me during the intermissions and we'll interview some drunk fans around us, which the players would be grateful for, and that's a 34% quality jump.
Cost: Three season tickets (me, Ball and Hrudey).
Return: 100% increase in broadcast quality, and quite likely some kind of an award for being a genius.

Actually, I just spoke to my cat agent, and he told me to ask for hot dog combos for the three of us, too. So another $45/game on top.

 Where do we sign?

Don't forget Maher, Barkley and Mike Rogers! Rogers is prob one of the best colour guy ever! I can't believe he just walked away to no fanfare.

I prob listened to 80% of the games in that 2004 run on the radio and muted the TV. Amazing stuff!

Okay, so today we have all 7 candian teams playing. The Flames are the only team not having their game nationally televised. The Red Wings-Senators game is a national game and the Flames-Lightning isn't? Talk about SN having seriously missed the boat here. It would have made for a perfect tripleheader or even quadruplet header with the Islanders-Bruins game being shown first. Wake the bleep up Sportsnet.

You muted Chris Cuthbert??? The Gelinas goal call in game 7 OT is probably one of my favorites of all time.

What an abundance of riches!

On the positive side, there is zero chance of Randorf doing PBP.

I'm late to the Hometown Hockey discussion, but wouldn't the obvious fix be to focus on a retired NHL player (or even a career AHL player) and have him go back to his hometown to talk about some of his funniest or uplifting stories of his own career, while mingling in kids tournament footage (that is happening that weekend) and local colour?

Cuthbert was 10x more excited when Cooke tied the game.

Something like the Stephen Brunt - Jordan Tootoo interview but that’s the focus not the side story?

Generally, yes.

Listen to the calls. There is a big difference.

Not saying he was biased - maybe he was just matching the energy in the arena.

That is exactly what he was doing, and it is the right thing to do. It reminds me of how Hughson called 2015 Round 1 Game #6 in Calgary. Two Canadian teams, and he handled the building energy perfectly in his own delivery.

How is it that Calgary is playing on Saturday afternoon and it’s a regional game? This company is the worst.

I know. I do not understand Sportsnet's logic. This is the fifth time of the season that a Flames Saturday matinee is not shown nationally, the most for any canadian team. The Canucks having one game and the Oilers with two games.Quote:
