Starting to get excited about this acquisition. He's not a forward, but he can score like one if need be.

OK Tre, your grade over the last two years is up to a C-minus. But no higher until I see what Forbort is made of!

That would be factoring in the Oilers pick.

Okay, that's not an overly onerous condition.

Correct.

Gustafsson had offensive zones starts of 65% this year.

He's not someone you trust in his own end.

Was just about to quote the same thing. That would be all kinds of bad!

I'm assuming you mean 56% right?

I was relying upon a text from a friend, he said 65%, is it actually 56%?

His OZS% is 55.9%. I was just assuming he made a typo and put the 6 in front of the 5 instead of the 5 in front of the 6.

You're right. That was a stupid idea by me. I just really didn't want Kylington to sit, but I think the downside of having Kylington - Gustafsson would probably be so bad that it would be better to just have Kylington eat popcorn.

Hopefully McDavid drags the corpse of James Neal around for two more goals. It'd be nice to have a pick in each round this June.

Not thrilled with the day. Yes Hamonic is injured but a play on either him or Brodie should've been done months ago.

That's in 5v5 situations.

His career in all situations is 63.9% OZ.

I don't mind Kyllington getting fewer starts for selfish reasons. Next year, he will be an RFA. I have no problem with teh Flames taking their time with his development while ensuring a nice cost controlled contract.

Interestingly enough Gustafsson looks much better away from Keith than he does with him.

Gustafsson + Keith:

TOI: 873 minutes
CF% Relative: 0.11
HDCF% Relative: -3.53
xGF% Relative: -1.93
ZS%: 62.8%

Gustafsson w/o Keith

TOI: 1566 minutes
CF% Relative: 1.75
HDCF% Relative: 3.77
xGF% Relative: 0.50
ZS%: 54.8%

So will be interesting to see who he plays with here and what he brings here with a different partner.

It is a weird move because the Flames basically have a young Eric Gustafsson in Kylington.

Kylington hasn't produced because they never put him on the powerplay.

So they acquire a guy who is terrible defensively like Kylington and will gift him PP time, which they won't for Kylington.

Why not just put Kylington on the PP and save the 3rd round pick?

Interesting, thanks SuperMatt.

Do you know who he played with when he wasn't with Kieth? Just a rotating cast?

I do hope he gets tried with Forbert. Forbert's made a career out of covering for Doughty's gaffs thus far, he seems like just the man for the job. Plus they're both new so not like it messes up any other chemistry

Because lots of PP time and no PK time?

I think 5on5 stats are over-used, but when you're talking zone starts, it's the only thing that is relevant.

What downside is this?

Kylington's been better defensively than half our roster this year. If you look past his dated reputation as an offense first guy, that's not remotely the player that he is. If anything he's presently trending towards a guy who deserves more PK icetime than PP icetime, based on merit. He could probably help a guy like Gustaffsson out with his skating, stick and angling.
