If the Flames can find a way to handle his turnovers (something every Blackhawks fans I've heard from has mentioned) and his defensive liabilities, then he seems like a good pick up. Especially if the Flames look to extend him.

I don't think Calgary would be adding picks to that deal. Hanifin is the best player there IMO (when you take age/contract into it), and I don't trade Bennett for a UFA Vatanen.

Interesting. The Gustafsson trade hasn't been made "official" yet. Perhaps this is why.

At the very least, with 11 defencemen, Valimaki is not playing, which is a positive because it means he will not be eligible for the expansion draft!

But this could also mean a LHD goes for a RHF.

At this point, they would be foolish to bring Valimaki back. I believe if he misses the whole season, he doesn't need to be protected against the Seattle expansion.

Might as well let him get back up to NHL game-shape in Stockton if he gets cleared to play.
