[Trade] VGK acquire Alec Martinez for 2020 2nd (VGK), 2021 2nd (STL)

It’s not done yet, but VGK and LA are working to try to finalize a deal that would send defenceman Alec Martinez to the Golden Knights. Most telling sign will be if Martinez is in or out of the Kings’ lineup tonight vs. WPG.

The LA Kings acquired two second-round picks in exchange for defenseman Alec Martinez today.

The two picks include Vegas’ in the 2020 #NHLDraft and St. Louis’s selection in the 2021 Draft that was previously acquired by the Golden Knights.

I seriously doubt Brodie is available. Nothing in the history of this team would show that they're willing to be proactive and sell. Not while the organization's top priority is still on the table (sneaking into the playoffs). Unlike the Glencross trade, moving Brodie would sink the season given that Hamonic and Giordano are weeks away from returning.

It may be short sighted, but it's how we do things.

I heard from a reliable source earlier in the year that Vatanen would have been part of the Hall trade to Calgary.

Wouldn't be completely surprised if we pursue him again.

Losing those two likely already convinced them the season is likely done so I see no reason not to include Brodie in available trade scenarios.

I love what we have on D but does anyone think 4 of them are experienced enough to complete the push for a playoff spot?

I'm an optimist and I don't think so. And I honestly think with all the crap that made this season what it is, itd be nice if they just pushed the reset button and get as high a pick as possible.

I am not convinced the flames plan changes because of these rental D-man being traded, I think they Flames if trading significant asset would still be looking to trade for a forward despite the injuries on Defense . At most I would expect a Fantenberg type deal for a defensemen.
