Fair point, but addition by subtraction?? Someone would pay up some assets for Johnny. Hamonic will walk for nothing anyhow so may as well get something for him.

Couple bad plays by the D. Other goalie stood on his head.

Doughty still a bitch. Shake it off.

As I said in the GT, they simply don't have enough players that can pick a corner, beating a goalie with a shot. It really feels like this team has to work so much harder than most teams for 90% of their goals. 38 shots for should yield more goals than that. I can certainly see the appeal of Toffoli for that reason.
We are legends of rushing shots into the 7hole. Johnny needs to cut it out with the backhand five hole breakaway move every single time. Seriously bizarre a 99pt player can’t do anything else.

Yea, I sounded very unhappy.

You're trying to make something outta nothing
Haha - you edited your post. You maybe should put the whole thing there. Something about not giving effort in the final 20, am I rite?

Sure it is, but the Flames literally don't have a shot to sweep the roadtrip and going 3-1 against teams you should beat most of the time while fighting for your playoff hopes would be getting the job done, not playing outstanding hockey

Classic Flames making the AHL back up look like all world. Couldn’t score on the 5 on 3 was the biggest fail. Bottom 6 didn’t show up tonight, bad turning by Gaudreau and Lucic, Monahan was invisible and couldn’t win an offensive zone draw all night.

This team isn’t going to make the playoffs losing to all these bottom feeders. The whole contender thing is history. At no point in nearly 60 games has this team showed they’re anywhere close to being a Stanley Cup contender.

This team better beat the Ducks tomorrow is all I can say. No excuses.

Yup.
The goal he lost it was a broken play where the Kings were scrambling back and Flames were trying to take advantage. One desperate glove bat from the Kings and a timely poke check though and Kings were away because they had two guys caught up ice which is why the Flames were pushing up, and had Hanifin in deep.

He stares down defenseman that supposedly screen him, and then that little tirade tonight showing up teammates again after the goal, then going to bench and continuing his chatter. Problem is, he then always seems to let in a marginal goal after his little outbursts. Tonight was no difference, a whiff on the MacDermid shot from distance.

This team goes as McDavid goes. May as well start selling.

That's a fundamental disagreement between the two of us then... and I didn't say the Flames should only get Toffoli.

This team's biggest issue, #1, is scoring. Plain and simple. They have no real RWs and Toffoli would fill that hole seamlessly.

They're without Giordano and Hamonic right now, of course the defense sucks. Now I wouldn't be opposed at all to adding another defenseman or two, but I do think the #1 priority should be to address scoring. Toffoli is a big guy and I think he would perfectly complete the top-six.

Sometimes it's the little changes that perfect a team. But the Flames never make even little changes mid-season. They make microscopic changes. They don't even try to improve.

I think this team will sell in the summer or at least seriously reconfigure if the team doesn’t win a round or doesn’t even make the playoffs.

Who are you to claim I’m “dictating opinion”, which I’m not. I’m just noting that some posters seem happier in complaining about losses than cheering about wins. It’s pretty obvious, by number of posts, tone of posts, etc.

Post away, put whatever you want in them. I will too.

Flames have 2 defenders playing right now you can count on to make a positive difference.

Their "#1 Center" is 71st in the league among centres for 5 on 5 scoring.

On top of that their coach, clearly in over his head, has a team built around small, speedy, skilled wingers playing dump and chase. Overall team chemistry is in the sewers.

9th place finish is about what we can expect.

I guess I'm willing to accept the season as yet another lost season, but they better make the right moves before the trade deadline (unload Hamonic, don't buy)

He used to have this far side, leg extended snap shot after he'd freeze the goalie with a head fake, but I don't remember seeing that since 2017.

This was one of the most unfortunately predictable losses of the year IMO.
But we've seen far worse efforts. At least Gaudreau got some points again.

I suggest you look at the teams Vancouver, SJ, LA, and Anaheim have beat this season...it might make you feel better

There are no easy games in the NHL

IF they go 3-1 it's a very solid trip

Cheering wins is easy. Doesn't matter how you play a win is a win

Dissecting losses is completely different.

Against three teams that won’t sniff the playoffs this year despite being in the worst division in the league? Maybe your expectations are different but 3-1 seems like the bare minimum on this trip if they wanted to keep up in the playoff race. Put another way, going 0.500 (2-2) would have been disappointing at best.

Playing three games in four nights isn’t ideal but it’s not like they had a heavy travel schedule.

The team needs more Ryan. Someone needs to step up and seize the #1C job that Monahan can’t be bothered to take, and he’s the best bet for it now.

Pretty goal from the (hopefully) new first line, but that’s about all the good to be taken out of this game.

I blame myself for watching, missed the Vancouver game entirely and the first 2 periods of the Sharks game, looks like I need to stop watching so the Flams can start winning.
