You can see Andersson waving to the crowd.

He does have a suspension for a similar hit so it’s not out of the realm of possibility. He’s a competitor and I’m sure it’s not malicious though.

Sorry, the analysts were Oiler fans, and were trying to manufacture a story. Given that Gio’s backside was facing McDavid, the only way he could have contacted him with a knee would have been if Gio’s knees could bend backwards. Yes, he tried to stick his butt out and McDavid avoided the hit and caught on the back of Gio’s skate instead, but frankly, the play was more dangerous for Gio, because his Achilles’ tendon nearly got run over

I am not saying it was a blatant knee on knee hit. But rather still could have been a dangerous play that Gio has to be careful with. In reality if an interference call was made then I would have had no issues with it. I do believe when playing instincts kick in and legs tend to go out to try and stop a play, as I know I’ve done that in my past, so it’s understandable. Though in the past when I did that my PCL got torn.

As well not every analyst is an oilers fan. Button/Friedman/Burkie can be objective.

so not a knee?

location checks out...if it was a dirty play the league would look at it, they won't because it isn't

McDavid should slow down if he is so worried about his legs, guys are gonna try and get a piece of him this is hockey.

I wonder if Barzal gets a free pass since he is even faster

He is the biggest fanboy...also they are all making a story for Saturday

do you really think McDavid's summer was the greatest injury recovery in NHL history? I mean he missed ZERO games, need an hour long documentary

If Mcdavid ran into him that's his deal. That's shin if anything but Gio's leg was planted in that position well before Mcdavid hit it. He didn't react with his leg, he leaned his butt back, interference or tripping.

It's not a dirty play I agree.

What also gets missed is the fact he slashed I believe Hamonic right after and then has a temper tantrum on the bench.

IMO this was not at all the same as the Koivu incident.

And yes Mcdavid needs to be more accepting of the fact if he's going to speed by someone like that he's going to get clipped every once in awhile when you're that close in a high intensity game.

*Edit* I'm just happy Flames won and it wasn't a bloodbath, good clean BOA. Yay OTL Gaskal is always the GOAT!

hey genius, you just lost back to back games to your biggest rival, got yourself suspended, and blew the season series tie breaker to a team that could use it to keep you out of the playoffs.

maybe pull your head out of the game within the game and focus on some wins.

It certainly wasn’t deserving of a documentary at all. I’ll agree, since the fact remains if there is a ligament a player can do without is a PCL. Especially with a proper carbon fibre brace and quad/hamstring strengthening. To this day I didn’t get surgery either and skate just fine.

Most notably being surgery on a PCL is no guarantee it’ll be better unlike an ACL. So it’s not like he made such a life defining choice.

This is why you don’t trade Bennett. He does so well in these amped up games.

David Rittich is my favourite Flames goalie in a very long time. Easily the best since Kipper. I just love him. The stick flip was amazing.

What a great hockey game. I’m really happy the Flames won but I also gotta say that shootouts just suck. Such a cheesy way to end an otherwise great game.

I’m so happy Mony dropped the gloves. That is exactly the element he needs to become an elite #1 centre in this league. I hope we see more of it. He doesn’t have to fight a ton but I’d love to see his physical game evolve. He’s a big guy. I think he’d surprise a lot of people if he worked on it a bit.

Also, I’ve ragged on him a lot this year but I thought Hamonic had a great game. He was blocking shots, taking away passing lanes, and he absolutely dropped James Neal. Amazing.

Yeah, that was one of Hamonic's better games. That's one where Dubas would come away impressed. And one where he was a lot better than his counterpart, Noah.

Happy for the win. Still baffled at the homer broadcast team commentary. For example,
there was a play in the third where klefbom went down clutching his face like a high stick got him. Replay showed the flames player’s stick hit klefbom’s shoulder. So, embellishment by klefbom. Debrusk the homer, watching the same replay as all of us at home, says the puck slid up and got him under the visor. Umm, on the replay the puck never left the ice. Louie, I know it’s been awhile since you drooled your way around the ice but they have this thing now called ‘instant replay’ where everybody else can see what you see. Nothing hit oscar’s face. 2 min for an embarrassing soccer style embellishment.

I really don’t get why they can’t just give us a mixed broadcast? Have Ball and DeBrusk or Quinn and Hrudey and have both Gene and Ryan Leslie do intermissions.

It’s not hard.
