Without one of Draisatl or McDavid going anywhere, I just don't see how the Oilers can even hope to be in the mix. McDavid at $12.5M and Drai at $8.5M and they are going to add a player that will be projected at $9-11M to re-sign. How does that make sense to anybody capable of rational thought.

Unless they think they are one good player away from making a cup run this year and renting Hall. The thought that maybe one person within the Oiler organization just might think this way warms my heart and brings a tear to my eye!

The poster clearly stated including injuries he is on average a 50 point player. You are changing the context of what he was saying. I would also say that average is incorrect Yes, when healthy Hall had one 80 point season and one 93. He also had two other seasons where he played over 70 games and had totals of 53 and and 65 points. My other issues besides injuries is he absolutely bleeds goals. -21 for his career and though he did play on some poor teams you just have to watch him to realize he has oodles of skill but is dumber than a bag of hair out there. Watch the game we played against them this year again. No thank you.

At the end of the day, if the Devils are trading Hall, its for a rebuild and they're going to want future pieces, and Edmonton can't afford to give it up because outide of a couple of pieces in Bouchard and Broberg, and their first, there's not a lot there that would move the needle for the devils. And they would want at least two of those three pieces, and the Oilers can't afford to give that up.

And no the Devils aren't going to want a RNH or anything like that.

I expect the ask for Hall would be a first, a high end prospect and a decent roster player for an unsigned Hall.

I'm sure calgary is in the mix. Tre is rumoured to be in most deals. That said Tre would only do that kind of trade at his point price. I highly doubt that he would go as high as other teams are willing to go. If he didn't want to give up Valamaki for Stone ( which was a postion of great need) i doubt he's giving up much for another LW.

I do hope Hall gets traded somewhere soon. I would also hope that it would start a trend of players getting traded well before the trade deadline . I don't like how the deadline is so close to the end of the season. It takes time for some of these players to adjust to their new teams and surroundings. Much rather have a player before xmas, so by the time playoffs come , he is in full mode with new team.

Does anyone think Bennett, Kylington, Mangiapane and Frolik (for cap) would get it done?

That’s 3 young NHL pieces. A guy with a pedigree who needs a change of scenery and guys who have flashed top 6 and top 4 potential.

That’s all I’d be willing to do for Hall.

I think that is definitely enough for a rental Hall

I suspect the Devils are close with a team or 2 but they are trying to get an extension to work before pulling the trigger. If they are holding him out it must be very close

Geoff Ward coached Taylor Hall in his Hart Trophy season. Then he left, and Hall has struggled. Coincidence?

Taylor Hall is not the same as a 50 point player.

Whether you count his last five seasons (which would include two of his worst seasons) or all his other seasons excluding the shortened one (which makes it unsuitable for comparison), his average is 57 point per season.

On top of that, when he's injured someone else will play in his spot and put up some points. Hall misses an average of 17 games per season. Predicting how much his replacement in the lineup will produce isn't an exact science, but I think 3 points in 17 games isn't an unreasonable expectation from a replacement level forward.

So Hall is like a 60 point player, on average, one that's really bad defensively.

I don't understand why the media keeps calling him a superstar.

No I don't think it would. They are going to want at least one first. Those are 3 young pieces, but there is a very slim chance any of them end up being top line players. They are likely all tracking to be middle 6/middle pairing players at best.

The Devils are going to want something with more upside than that.

He hardly struggled the next season, just got injured. He had 37 pts in 33 gp

Lots of insiders speculating on teams and the Flames do not appear to be among them. Only Eklund says we are in the mix

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say through 592 career NHL games, Taylor Hall is a 0.905 ppg player.

As far as the Flames being in the mix. Like most UFA's, I think the back half of a long term contract would hurt. But, if we can afford him, the next 2 and half years could be very enjoyable.

That's too much.

Because Mangiapane and Dube seem to have taken the next step, it is now possible to include Bennett. But make no mistake, Bennett is a big piece.

Add in Kylington, who is also a proven NHLer with tons of upside, and that is a really good offer. No way you add Mangiapane as well.

The only reason I'd believe we're 'in the mix' is because Treliving calls everyone about everything, listens to the asking price and then likely thanks them for their time and patience before discarding the entire idea.

Its difficult to fathom where he finds the time to GM the team between all of the unsolicited telephone surveys he politely and obligingly participates in.
