Nice little period they had there. 20 minutes to win it now.

Loved that late Backlund line shift with that sweet turnover and head up passing.
Really nice to see us have Colorado on their heels.

Good period.
I’m worried that Backlund has bit that Lucic point of his career where he looks like the same player he used to be, but just can’t shoot the puck anymore.
So many times this year he’s had a chance he fans on or just shoots it into the goalies chest.
Also I’m not sure what Mark Jankowski did to piss off the hockey gods but he will never be on the Ice for a Flames goal again, let alone score one himself.

Good second period. They are standing up to them. Avs are not very good in their zone when the Flames forecheck with speed.

People forget about it because of what happened in the playoffs, but despite the 0-2 record I have liked how the Flames have played Colorado this year for the most part.

I think the altitude has something to do with it too. Notice the puck is hard to handle for our players, the puck travels different and bounces off stick blades.

Put the kids down and came back to a 2-2 game. I'll take it!
Sounds like the Flames are pushing back. To bastardize a Morpheus quote, they are starting to believe.

Just keep shooting just keep shooting shooting shooting. What do you do? Just shoot!. They'll eventually go in. When he stops shooting then we can worry.
Puck luck is a real thing. You can't quantify it with stats but it is real. Not worried about Backs. Hes adjusting somewhat to being a winger. Give it time.

I'm really proud of the team tonight. After Colorado scored first, they could have easily collapsed. But they didn't. They've skated with Colorado for most of the game. Big third period coming up.

And now he has Monahan to pick up the garbage if there’s a rebound.

The Avs are a very good team, and they are not having an off night. And Calgary is going toe to toe with them. A good sign.

It would help if he had more than just 15 shots through 27 games. Just shoot more, and if it doesn't go in, at least he tried...

I was at game 1 in Denver and that first period was utter domination by the Avs. They played OK after that though.

What did I miss? Lou and Ryan Leslie said Chucky left the game. Anyone see anything?

Yeah it was just a continuation of the playoffs that first game, not fun at all.
