It's gonna be hilarious watching the 13-3 Seahawks/49ers have to play at 7-9 Dallas in the playoffs. And probably lose too.

Honestly, would you rather play at Dallas or host Minnesota?

Maybe it depends how banged up Cook is after last night... but I doubt it. I'd be inclined to take the road game in Dallas.

Are the Pats D scary? They have a lot of stats beating up on some terrible teams but look pretty pedestrian against others.

I guess we'll find out based on what they do vs Mahomes. They did hold the Bills to 10 points and Cowboys to 9, and both of those offenses are reasonably potent. They got lit up by Baltimore, but that's nothing too surprising.

I mean in todays NFL, and especially with garbage time, to only allow four games with more than 200 yards passing is extremely impressive. And it's not like Houston and Baltimore destroyed them, Houston didn't even get to 300 yards of offense and Lamar only had like 170 yards passing. The point really is that the Pats defense is a much bigger asset to their team than the offense.

Yeah for sure. I just had someone try to convince me it was an all-time great defense. Not really willing to go there. There's really no team this year that I look at and go "that's a fantastic squad that should really win the Super Bowl". There's just a lot of "very good with notable flaws" teams.

In fairness, the game vs the Cowboys was atrocious weather, which always favours a defence. Pats only scored 13 points that game too. So really only impressive vs. the Bills.

Football Outsiders has both the 49ers and Pats among the best defenses ever, especially against the pass.

In 2010, the Seahawks won their division at 7-9 and beat the Saints in round 1. They can pound sand.

7-8-1 Carolina also beat 11-5 Arizona a few years ago. That's why I laugh that one of the garbage NFC East teams will get to host a playoff game, because they'll probably win it too just to hand the other NFC West team a layup on the divisional round.

When you get to play the Jets, Dolphins and Bill's twice per year, along with the Browns, Giants, Skins, with the Bengals yet to play, you trust the eye test.

New Englad has a middle road defense at best, that takes advantage of bad teams with barely capable QBs. As of now they've played 4 teams with winning record. Beating the Steelers and the Bills while losing to Houston and Baltimore. Fact is when they face a good team they get lit up, they just dont face good teams.

I think the Patriots given a rematch with Lamar will have a much different game plan. The defence has had some cupcake matchips but it is extremely well coached. But if the offence can only muster 20 points that will affect them in needing to win 3 playoff games.

Tim Ryan's been suspended from his radio duties for saying Lamar Jackson's skin blends with the ball.

Stuff is getting crazy. Overreactions like this hurt progress.

I don’t recall the last time I heard an announcer say that they couldn’t see a white player in a snowstorm. You?

Yeah, it's not the smartest thing to say, and it is insensitive...but the intent on his comments was not malicious, and I don't think it was racist.

On a day with bad visibility if it's harder to see the ball, and a guy is good at doing play fakes, a player as good as Lamar Jackson will make a defence pay for that split second extra reaction time.

Although it does make you think...why wouldn't more QB's wear long sleeves and gloves that blend with the football?

I believe that he said that it's not as easy to pick up the ball for a defender.

In a snowstorm the ball still stands out from Good Ol Mr. White, even if he's wearing a white jersey.

If you ever read a book called the Power of Habit, Tony Dungee wanted his defensive players to have good instincts and trust their instincts when they read plays. Theory being that if he could get his guys to react to their reads a split second quicker they would be in the right place before the offence and disrupt plays.

So I do think that if the defence is a touch slower in reading a play fake than yes it can buy you time to make a play. No one is saying Lamar Jackson isn't awesome, or that this is the only reason he's making plays. He is exceptional at play fakes, and if he can gain a split second he absolutely can use that time to make himself better. But end of story, Lamar Jackson is a great athlete, and he's proving that he can play the position exceptionally well. His race or color isn't the reason for his success at all, he is (with help from Greg Roman).

He could have used better terminology to get the point across though.

It might be illegal.

Like pitchers cannot wear long white sleeves.

That said, the Browns still suck.

If it mattered then everyone would dress like this all of the time.

Yeah I'm not sure that's an overreaction, seems like a worthy suspension to me.

That's a pretty ####ty thing to say that the QB has an "advantage" because his skin blends in with the ball.

Plus it's not that hard to not get yourself in trouble. Just don't make comments about race, or the color of somebody's skin.
