I would not be surprised one bit if the top line, specifically Johnny, have a massive game and rip it up tonight. In fact, I'm expecting it.
If there's one silver lining in this whole mess, it's that the players will want to show they are a better team without Peters behind the bench and BT will have made the right decision in firing him.

Having said that, I'm terrified of seeing Eichel again. God damn is he good and last game he put on quite the show. Keep Eichel in check and the Flames have a good chance to win this one.

Something tells me the Flames are going to blow out the Sabres with Ward at helm.

Really curious about what team shows up in the away jersey's tonight. I can't help but feel optimistic that the change breathes new life into the group.
That being said, I'm trying to temper expectations. The Calgary Flames have a magical way of finding every cliche'd excuse to fail:
 - Slow starts (avg Oct's)
 - First game back from a long road trip
 - last game before hitting the road
 - yadda yadda yadda

Tonight could equally be a game where everyone who's feeling down in the dumps, just feels like things are just piling on for the entire organization, and just do a complete no show.

I am definitely tuning in tonight, am really hopeful for a birth of a new season, but realize it could be a fan's wishful thinking.

I can see that happening too. Plus the Sabres are terrible.

especially since the sabres have really sucked lately.
other than Eichel, they've been crap.

not much for the flames to fear this game.

seriously though, I'd trade Johnny + Monny ++ for Jack Eichel in a heartbeat and I would have said that a year ago.

Ward just needs to get the boys off to a good start... I'm guessing some motivational music before the game will help pump the team up.

 Too soon?

Do the Sabres have a player still looking for his first NHL goal? If so he scores for sure...

I would expect that if Peters has been a weight on their shoulders, it will maybe lift after Peters is fired, and then only if Ward is actually better. Which i feel is at best a 50/50 bet.

I was sort of thinking the same thing...until the firing actual is official they could still be tense...but I could also see it go a positive way too who knows. But it's not like they're hearing a "different voice". Ward called out the players recently and looks right pissed off every time his face is on camera so don't expect the Mr. Nice Guy approach from him.

Very curious to see how the team plays with Peters gone from behind the bench. I feel like this can't be anything but good for the team overall.

Me too.

They have looked awful for a long time now. I mean, not just on the ice, but in their demeanour the players have looked just miserable. Maybe this fixes that.
