No sterling cause hes such a goon
Why rashford over abraham or maddison though Gareth
Based on play now, if we need a goal next summer it's likely going to be a front 4 of kane, sterling, sancho, and abraham that's needed

Montenegro are putting in one of the worst international performances I've ever seen
Englands last 3 goals have been
Kane scoring on a set piece header where he didnt have to move or jump
Kane scoring on a set piece header where he did jump, in front of 4 defenders standing still
Rashford scored from about 8 yards out, and no one was within 7 yards of him, again on a set play

to be fair, Rashford has been better of late and has been solid for England. No idea why Maddison hasn't got a chance yet though, mind-boggling.
joke performance by Montenegro.

You know how the last hockey World Cup had basically an "other" team? Maybe take like Montenegro and the Faroe Islands and all those countries that only exist to get battered and have them form a team. At least they could be....still bad, but better?

Ya rashford has been good, just hope southgate experiments a bit. Abraham could just be on a great run and maybe he falls behind others by the tournament. Just think team is still so fluid. The only sure starters for the first game next summer I can see would be kane, sterling, and pickford
Sancho and maguire seem mostly locked in
After that who knows, hes rotated rose and chilwell and TAA and trippier
2nd cb seems up in the air
The midfield 3 is a mystery, I would guess henderson, winks, and ? Maybe maddison? Maybe mount? If dele gets back in form?
This tournament is one england should excel at, its essentially at home, I saw today someone said group games are Wembley and Glasgow, r16 is wembley, qf is Rome, semis and final would again be wembley

Maddison is a bit of a c*nt, from what I've read. Perhaps hasn't endeared himself to Southgate?
That said, I want Woodward to buy him and Sancho this coming summer.

I've never seen my team score a goal," Visemoli says ruefully. "The only ones they've scored were away. The only one at home, in 2013, was in the only game in six years that I missed. Maybe I'm just unlucky."

pretty cool to qualify for a big tournament, haven't had many of those WC 1998, Euros 2016 and now Euros 2020, plus the Euros 2008 where we were hosts.

Congrats. On the flip side of that ROI could qualify with a win against Denmark tomorrow and for whatever reason I could care less.

I wasn't sure where to put this, but the WC in 2022 is to run from Nov 21 through Dec 18th, which is going to cause a lot of disruption for the European seasons. It's the shortest WC in years (going back to a time when there were on 16 teams in the finals!) and the Premier League is planning on firing things up again on boxing day, apparently. What a mess...but I guess FIFA must have really wanted Qatar!

A winter world cup is just going to feel so silly.
And I'm not sure I'll be able to get over the fact that literal slaves were used to build the stadiums no one will use when the WC ends. Shameful.

Those delicious, delicious, bribey petrodollars cannot be beat. If it was culturally acceptable, I would drape myself in a velvet petrodollar suit.

Yeah the human rights violations are a much bigger issue IMO.
I'm actually not that against a winter world cup though.
Usually able to watch more TV in the winter, players will be in what is closer to mid-season form, and really if it just replaces all the international breaks we usually have but puts them into a month long period I'm okay with that.
As a one off it's an interesting test of things.

I'll have a hard time watching it because of that.
I hope it becomes the front and centre story continuously leading up to the tournament with the players asked about it on a constant basis.
Would absolutely support any player(s) that pull out of the tournament on ethical grounds. And would love to see the backlash if their respective FAs or sponsors try and punish them for it.

As someone who is going to be watching it from the other side of the world in the comfort of my own home it ought to be fine.
But there is no pretending that Russia and Qatar were anything but a FIFA cash-grab so obvious that they werent even trying anymore. I rather think that they were probably wondering what the limits of what they could get away with were and so here we are.

When the WC is in Nigeria, we will know for sure.

As funny as that would be...I still think Qatar was the ultimate litmus test of corruption.
If they could get away with hosting it in the Desert where they dont allow drinking or women or presumably fun of any kind, had to build stadiums that would never get used again using slave labour and wiping their asses with Human Rights Violations and re-scheduling the entire thing to be played in the winter.
All this just so Blatter could retire in disgrace....presumably in his Scrooge McDuck-ian Vault O' Cash, then I think they can get away with pretty much anything.
They would scoff at the ease in which they could host the Tournament in Nigeria. No sweat.

It's really a disgrace. But when England finally wins this, all of that will be forgotten!
