There hasn't been one game this season that i haven't thought Kadri with Tkachuck would have been great. I hate that Kadri nixed that deal. He was exactly what we needed, and we almost had it. Not to mention Brown would have also been a huge upgrade on Janko.

It's pretty frustrating how inept this organization is at stocking high end center depth.
Monahan, Backlund, Ryan isn't going to cut it if we want to win a cup with this core IMO.
In a perfect world you have a two way C that's better than Monahan as the #1, which would bump them all down a notch, but I'd even settle for one that slots nicely in between Monahan and Backlund.
But nope, our highest ever draft pick had to fizzle out into a 3rd line grinding winger, and "the best pick from the 2012 draft" is barely even a 4th line C. You have Dube flat lining in the AHL, Kadri playing in Colorado and ROR winning a cup in St. Louis.
Always a day late and a dollar short for one reason or another.

Disagree. That poster was way over the top, and rude, and directed it at another poster who absolutely did not deserve that. And it was not new for this poster to do crap like that.
I think that people should be held accountable. And while things can get emotional, and that's okay, there needs to be decorum and respect - especially towards other posters.
I am pleased that he got banned, and I wish crap like that resulted in bannings more often. I don't come here to see posters rudely attacking other posters.

Christ guys. Flash dropping a big steamer in the middle of these threads is old hat at this point. Why do you guys keep taking the bait?
Gaudreau's play in OT (in particular) was definitely problematic, but honestly, we skated with the defending champs and one of the best teams in the league this year for nearly that entire contest. We definitely deserved the point, and we could have gotten two.
I'll take that.

He was also given ample opportunity to apologize - and if he had - that would have been the end of it. He chose to continue the attack.

I thought it was a really good game. The blues are on a roll and really feeling it right now. They are doing everything right in all three zones, support each other really well, and rarely make mistakes. Very difficult team to play against.
And with a lead, they just shut everything down. And they kept everything on the wall, which they are great at, and is not at all how the Flames want to play. Despite that, the Flames stuck with it, kept battling, and earned themselves a well-deserved point.
Wasn't happy with the call on Brodie in OT, after everything the Blues got away with, but I'll ignore that. What infuriated me was how passive the PK was in OT. That is how they have been playing it this year, and it has failed them every single time. Frustrating.
Agree that Johnny looks like he isn't having fun.
The team is 8-4-2 in their last 14, despite the fact that the top line hasn't been at their best. I think the team is close, and finally getting some practice time this week will help.

St.Louis in a way reminds me of those 95 to 2003 era Devils teams with how committed they are to their system. They look every bit like a team who is not going to give up the title of Stanley Cup Champions.
The Flames surprised me by even getting that game to OT. Team still seems to be in the same gear they were after the Allstar break last year. Able to collect points but not looking like a team that will get more than 5-6 playoff games in.

Flames were fresh Blues were burnt out at the end of their road trip and people are tickled pink we got the game to OT? Team started slow, again, and it cost us a point. Lucky to get that.

Not much credit will be given to Bennett for changing the emotion of the game in Calgary's favor. It threw St. Louis off, and although he was hit with a charging call, the check was in the chest of the opposing player, who had his head down.
If St. Louis had scored on the 4on4 instead of Tkachuk, Bennett would be vilified, but he understands that there are ways to effect a game beyond an end to end rush. Hamonic has that part covered.

Rittich basically gave them the first goal.
In the 2nd, someone (Johnny?) set up Tkachuk right in the crease. If it hits his stick, it's 1-1. Instead it hits his skate and he doesn't convert. The play goes down to the other end and the Flames get a penalty. Blues score on the PP and it's 2-0 instead of 1-1.
Those are the breaks. It was a very even game for chances, despite the fact that the Blues play really well with the lead.

St.Louis last played in Edmonton on Wednesday and just played their 18th game of the season. I'm sure they were exhausted!
The Flames have had it so easy going from Nashville to Columbus than to Washington DC the next day and back to Calgary with one off day to play 3 games in 5 nights.

Blues last 9 of 10 games were on the road. But okay, Flames played great the Cup champs are simply on another level. Is that what makes you feel better?

Who said the Flames played great?
And yes St.Louis looks really good right now. Whats wrong with acknowleging that? I think it's pretty clear the Flames are not that level of team. This core can not make the same level of committment to competing night in and night out that Berube has the Blues doing.
