Good news is TMX is going nowhere unless the Liberals themselves kill it. Which I can't see after buying the thing. Not a sterling day for our Province, but could have been worse.

Make no mistake that is the last pipe though. Come on dehydrated oil puck tech!

Political Tribalism at its finest, alive in the USA and good old Canada. It makes us really easy to influence come election time.

Canadians are so much better eh?
First, I don't think it's fair to compare what happened in the US with what's going on in Canada. I'm not stoked with the political climate in Canada, but we're nowhere near to the trouble that's occurring south of the 49th.

Second, what am I expected to do? Vote against my own interest because of the leader? That doesn't make a lot of sense. I've voted for 3 different parties throughout my lifetime depending on what I believe serves me and - what I believe to be - the greater good.

That is NOT excusing Trudeau or giving him or his team a pass. This is what I believe to be the best choice, despite everything, and by voting I am expressing faith and some demand that they learn, grow, and be better.

"Traditional Marriage" is still one of the most laughable euphemisms.

That's actually pretty much exactly what it is.

I wonder if this means another election in 18 months.

I also don't see this as a hug loss for the CP. They gained a lot of seats and can be a strong opposition. Trudeau is going to need them to get some things and I am sure they will use that to their benefit.

As long as they can behave like adults of course.

To me this is Ontario voters learning from past mistakes. Voting strictly against an incredibly unpopular incumbant got them Doug Ford, looks like they didn't want a repeat of that for the federal election

Yep. Pretty much. Also, he’s a liar and ran the worst campaign.

I would actually be OK with a liberal government if they had a half decent leader. Voting in Trudeau makes Canadians in general look like idiots. Feels like we voted in a fricking youtube influencer to run the country. Twice!

I don't like how Scheer has approached some social issues.

There are many... I just feel like they represent me at the moment. I don't want to debate this. I hope this was a good enough answer.

As a kid I used to think it was so cool that Canada was the 2nd biggest country in the world. As an adult I get frustrated by it's size and the difficulty it is to govern. Just looking at the seat breakdown and the clear division between geographical areas is staggering. I sometimes wonder if it's truly the best thing for Canada to continue on this way?

That being said, I'm a very proud Canadian and will continue to be that way. Just something I think about from time to time.

What? Did you miss that there was an election tonight?

If they want to remain in power, after tonight, they'll need support from other parties. They can try vote by vote, but if it comes to forming a coalition the pressure the NDP would have to cancel Trans Mountain likely outweighs any support they would retain/get from sticking with their approval of Trans Mountain.

But sure, the political party that approved a pipeline twice and then purchased it to keep it from being completely kyboshed was secretly in league with the Federal Court of Appeal - no less with judges appointed by Harper - because of...reasons. It's a conspiracy theory that now has a chance of becoming a self fulfilled prophecy. Can't wait for all the "see I told you Trudeau would cancel it" now that Trudeau doesn't have the ability to push it through even if he wanted to. Not without working with other parties...

He just didn’t state it outright though. it was a wishy-washy stance. Like on abortion, “I won’t reopen anything, but if any of my MPs want to, I won’t stop them” (paraphrasing)

He just came across as not wanting to offend the ultra conservative voters, and honestly he didn’t need to worry about them because they’d vote conservative regardless. I mean, he would probably have to actively try to insult people to get them to vote Lib or NDP.

Rona Ambrose did say Scheer deserves another kick at the can that's pretty much a recipe for disaster for the Cons. I guess she's "saying the right things".
