Meh usually you if you ignore them or don’t show a reaction if you irks them more then if you give them the reaction they are looking for. But yeah I will concede that there are times every one loses their cool.

Shortly after Trump got elected last year, a guy on the team I played for told me to request a trade from the team because he didn’t want a Muslim on the team. He didn’t care that I was the Captain and led the team in goals and points all while playing as a defensemen.

And this Windsor Star article from two years ago, which also includes some really odd details:
https://windsorstar.com/news/local-n...indsor-student
Quote:
“(Expletive, expletive)! Stop coming to the rink! (Expletive, expletive) Muslim! Go Home! Make Canada Great Again.” The writer scrawled the letters MAGA and MCGA on the note, abbreviations that presumably stand for the slogans, Make America Great Again and Make Canada Great Again.
Javaid said it could be the anonymous writer had mistaken him for someone else since he doesn’t normally go to the arena in Tecumseh. But that doesn’t make the note any less shocking, Javaid said.
The camera on his cellphone broken, the Windsor native said he brought the note home, and took a photo of it with his old phone. He threw the note away, but posted the photo of it on Twitter a couple days later.

Again, all possible. But just the way it adds up and the amount of attention he seems to chase around this instances... I don't know... something seems way off about it all.

Add indigenous people feeling extreme racism in Canada for just playing the game. It’s so widespread yet so casually ignored by most. The refs affecting the equality of the game. The parents screaming epithets at children. It’s pretty disturbing. And we like to think of ourselves as enlightened here in Canada. Teams and leagues should face stiffer penalties if fans or officials are found to be heinous offenders and bigots.

Questions arise after viral Windsor hockey coach tweet
Quote:
But the question remains, who is Chase and where exactly was Javaid coaching? News 10 spoke to a Yahoo Sports reporter who said Javaid told her it was at Suburban Ice in East Lansing. Suburban Ice said they did not want to go on camera but have never heard of Javaid nor the ice skating clinic he allegedly was holding.
News 10 checked ice rinks all around East Lansing and the surrounding area- not one says they have heard of him before and no one had him scheduled to coach through their arena.

I have no doubt that Javaid has had to deal with racism in hockey, but I think at least one of these instances that he has reported is likely invented. The astonishing brazenness of the MSM he posted strikes me as inauthentic.

It’s an ignorant, hateful word that shouldn’t even exist. It’s become apart of a negative culture.

I saw that too, what a sleazebag. I don’t know what people get out of fabricating stories like that, there’s so many better ways to get attention. It’s such a disservice to the people who unfortunately legitimately face racism too, with this moron crying wolf. I doubt the people he knows will view him the same in light of this, and honestly he had it coming if he was willing to stoop so low.

Yes - that is very unfortunate. It is taking advantage of legitimately serious issues to draw attention to yourself as some kind of noble white knight. I'm sure he has experienced some racism in his time in hockey, and maybe felt justified to bring it to light by creating an arbitrary platform.
Of course that is ridiculous. He owes an apology, most importantly to Evander Kane, whom was tricked into using the spotlight he has actually earned into giving him undeserved attention.

I wonder how many of the dozens of coaching-job offers that Javaid received as a result of his tweet last Friday have been rescinded?

At a Roughnecks game I was attending last year, someone thankfully got escorted out by the RCMP for yelling slurs.
The usher working the section gave him one warning and then got the police involved when the offender wouldn't stop, then four angry looking constables immediately came up the stairs, stood at the end of the row and whisked him right the F out.

It was the use of the word “bud” that made me question it.

I hate that people do this, because I defend them and feel like an idiot. Why is having a little self awareness and honesty so rare nowadays.
