Anyone that thinks Edmonton's new rink is better has most likely never been there, cares more about the look of the concourse, or is an oiler fan.

Yes the dome could use more washrooms but I've never seen anyone pee their pants in 35 years of going to games there (yet I feel like some people pee their's complaining about it).

To top it off ticket prices will jump substantially for pretty much everyone. Dome know what you've got till it's gone...
Inverted bowl in the new one tho?

My unpopular opinion is that I’ve been slowly decreasing my NHL viewership the past few seasons, possibly because I’m not sure I really care about the league...the “die-hardedness” with which I once followed the Flames has started to wane as a result. I’m often cheering as much for Oilers losses as Flames wins, just because it’s one of the few storylines that intrigues me.

I’ve become increasingly attached to the CFL, as hokey as it is. I think they (via TSN) do a better job of making “Canadian connections” and telling individual player/community stories. The Canadian NHL media is oversaturated and the stories tend to repeat in style and substance after a while. I guess I like that the CFL is small enough to be able to keep tabs on most (if not all) teams and that Grey Cup really is a celebration of the sport/fan community itself.

And then again, maybe I’m just approaching that age where you start to yell at clouds...

My tickets are right behind the TV cameras in the first balcony and a few posters have sat in them as well. So true. Hopefully we will be able to get good seats (and afford them) in the new arena as I do think the facility is important for the growth and economy of the City.

The Dome isn’t close to Rogers Place. Cmon now. I dislike Edmonton as much as any of you but damn that’s a nice venue

Yes that’s I’m saying. I’m agreeing. I think most people would say they hate how vague they are

You might know the Hartle's then.

Sat in their seats once right behind the cameras and they were by far the best seats I ever sat in.

For actually watching a game? I strongly disagree. The Saddledome has some of the best sight lines for watching hockey. The second bowl is comfortable. I hate the steep second levels in the new arenas these days.

Plus, do I really need to clarify that any building decked out in Edmonton Oilers logos is not a nice venue, regardless of when it was built?

Rogers Place sucks. I also think it's ugly from the outside too.

Rogers place is nice if you haven’t visited arenas in Arizona, Vegas, NYC, etc.

Its a nice arena when compared to old arenas, in comparison to most newer arenas its pretty bang average at best.

Rogers Place could be the nicest, best planned and designed arena on the planet and it would still suck because it's an Oiler rink and it's in Edmonton.

Gaudreau-led Flames from 2014-present are one of the softest NHL teams the league has ever seen.

I’ve been to Rogers Place. The problem is the first tier is so large with such a gentle slope that even half way up you’re a mile from the ice.

The military pays pro sports leagues for patriotic displays. It's just another form of advertisement.

Try out the first row of the first balcony in Rogers Place. It's so high up it feels more like the first row of the second balcony in the Dome. Sure you can get a table for four in Rogers one rung lower but the view is basically the same and it's $750 a ticket face value (at least it was in year one).

When I go to a game what I care most about is the best view of the game at fair market pricing. Everything else is a side note.

By chance are the last two digits of your cell 74? If so I have had your seats a few times over the years. All I have for a contact name is Section 226 row 2. That's all I ever needed to know when scrolling my contacts.

Kipper is overrated. He had a few good seasons and one out of his mind 2/3 of a season. I’m not sure he even makes my list for guys getting their number retired. FaF at best.

Don’t get me wrong, I loved the guy and his super chill attitude but I think it hurt the team at times. It gets tiring when his poor stats in multiple seasons are rationalized as being completely the fault of the team in front of him. I also think that, somewhat similar to complaints about Johnny, if he’d taken things more seriously he may have been as good as his skill set sometimes allowed him to be.

People talk about Iggy not being a guy who was desperate to win based on some of his lacklustre defensive play and where he chose to play after Calgary but really it was Kipper who didn’t care about winning all that much.
