Back in my lurker days I remember seeing something called the Calgarypuck awards. It seemed like a great community builder and was a superb way to recognize the outstanding contributers to this site that put in a lot of time and effort.
I can't even remember what the categories were... And when were they handed out? Was it in summer when things were slow?
Yeah, I'm thinkin' so.
Cause it was right before I joined and I came in during Sept 2003. So it must have been during the offseason. IIRC there were about 5 nominees for each award and then a vote would take place to decide the winner.
Some of the categories for the awards were hilarious.
Has to be done right though . . . . private comments, private voting . . . then tallied with anonymous comments written by someone fairly neutral with a mind towards civility rather than retribution.
