I figured tennis crowds were classier than other sports crowds

Good on the ump on calling out that guy who tried to jinx Bianca’s serve

Depends on the venue. Some are much better than others.

Yeah, somehow, this tournament and the French are actually considerably worse than the Aussies. Who woulda thought?

That was still a really good return game from Bianca. Made Townsend earn it. That said, I really thought there were a couple of good opportunities to use a drop shot there and she seems to have removed it from her arsenal in this set for no apparent reason.

Bianca took something off her shots in the third set and ended up with fewer than five unforced errors in total. That's why she won.

It was tougher than it needed to be solely because of crappy serving. She's got to get that under control for the next match.

Been a while since I gave a crap about women's tennis. Kinda nice to care again.

Aside from tapering off at the start of the second set, pretty controlling match from Bibi.

Meh, this match going to a 3rd set really flattered Townsend, Bianca went to sleep in set 2 and Townsend made some good (and lucky) shots to force a 3rd set. When you look more closely at it, it was a dominating victory by Bianca tonight.

Any clue what Bianca's rating would be after this tournament? Has she already improved from 15?

Live rankings has her at #9 right now, she could climb into the top 5 with a trip to the final.

From where she started this year, to top 10. What a ridiculous rise by her.

If she could end up top 5 after this tournament, that has to be one of biggest ranking rises to top 5 in women's tennis history?

Nah, she couldn't. 6th is the best she can do. But if she wins the next round it's almost certain that she'll come out of the tourney in the top 10, which is amazing considering how few tourneys she's played this year.

Edit: actually I guess it's possible if Svitolina loses her next match and Bianca wins the title. But the former is pretty unlikely.

According to the site I'm looking at, Halep is 4th at 4803 - She would usurp Halep if she wins the tourney at 4835, but a trip to the final isn't enough, she would need to win the whole damn thing lol.

I Love pissed off Bianca. She couldn’t complete the comeback in the 2nd but she made her point in the 3rd.

You're right, I was looking at Konta's max points instead of Bianca's.
