As much as I am okay with the Flames not being stupid today.. its been a lacklustre few months.

1. Playing average hockey after the all star break
2. Making no major moves at the trade deadline
3. Getting crushed in the playoffs
4. Nothing at the deadline
5. Nothing major so far in Free Agency

I guess I was used to being excited and spoiled with a big trade last off-season.

Treliving has no real choice but to stay out of the bidding, as Calgary has no cap space.

It would be ballsy but now that the draft is over, I think the value of Brodie or Hamonic could be higher at the trade deadline than it is now. Of course you run the risk of injury and if the Flames are having a great season, could you imagine trading a top four D? But the pieces acquired could be flipped for forward help.

Can't trade defenders at the deadline if you're gearing up for the playoffs.
