I may need to get a sound bar for my bonus room, sadly. I a peak into my attic to see if I could get to the wiring that was installed when the home was built, and it looks like a maze with potential for lots of damage.
Bleh.
More information: The room is 18 feet by 13 feet, with the long side having a lot of really nice windows my wife refuses to let me put a tv in front of. As she should. The original owners built it with 2 HDMI, component cable, and maybe some sort of speaker wire? I should post a pic. Anyways. The HDMI doesn't work with the 4k telus box at all, so I think it's probably a really old HDMI version that only handles HD.

The Vizio P 65 is now 1000 dollars
The 55" is 800 dollars
Likely making room for the new models to come out soonish. If you want a high quality picture LED 4k tv... I cannot stress enough how insane a deal this is.

the online webstore is always more. I just got my price protected again on Saturday. It may be that the 55" was on sale and isn't anymore.

The 55 inch p series is likely now at its last price, 599
If you need a tv and don't buy it for 599 you are making a mistake.

I haven't seen it in store in weeks. The last price reduction I got it to was 1000. Almost 500 off from my original purchase

If you guys are okay with refurbished TV's, or last year models. I bought my Samsung 65KS8000 from these guys a couples years ago, and haven't had a problem with them at all! Costs are significantly cheaper.

Man, I'm not looking forward to the day my Panasonic plasma dies. I noticed the other day my fans were looking pretty dust caked and thought about opening it up to clean them, but another part of me is all "just leave it alone, it works!" When we move, I'm going to wrap it in a million blankets and move it myself.

If you decide to clean them, stick something in there to stop the fan spinning, and blast it with air or vacuum it. You don't want compressed air forcing the fan to spin, it can damage them and then they get noisy and die.

If anyone is interested in a decent 4K smart TV, my M-I-L bought a 50" TCL Roku-enabled TV from Amazon. I was pleasantly surprised by the picture quality. Advanced features to do a proper calibration are a bit lacking, but still hard to gripe about $399 for a 4K set.

If you download the roku remote app you can access the advanced calibration settings to get a better setup.

Yeah, I'm in the same boat. I've had my Panasonic plasma since 2013 and I just love the picture. Sound was always #### but just recently hooked up a decent sound system to it and now I'm laughing.

I have three plasmas, newest being 2013, and yeah, same boat. Brightness aside, they're just the best.
I did have to move with them. I just put them on their stands and surrounded them with pillows.
