Wow, the Chelsea transfer ban was upheld. Two windows of no signings, which should make things difficult assuming Hazard is gone.

United announce that Mike Phelan has signed a 3 year contract ... as assistant manager. Happy they'll keep him at the training ground instead of shifting him to technical director.

Herrera confirms he's leaving United. State of the club pretty much, Smalling, Jones, and Young all get new contracts, and a guy who's better than them and has far more heart gets told to leave. Quality signing for PSG though, they need guys who play with heart on that team.

Herrera seems like he was just consistently used poorly.
Hes a talented player but he never fit Mourinho's stifling style and it looks like he doesnt fit Ole's style either.

But again, likely another 'Buy High, Sell Low' situation for United.

Before you posted did you stop to consider what his wage demands were and what that was relative to the three players mentioned? Or do you think all contracts are equal? You realize he wanted over twice the amount of the players mentioned....yes? Two and a half even?

And am I correct to assume that you think it is a bad bit of business to not give him the reported 200k/week? If so why? What has he done of note over the last five years in one of the worst midfields I've seen to warrant that sort of coin? Apart that is by giving Old Trafford the entertainment at seeing Slippys last game at OT last 30 odd seconds.

My honest reaction? I'll miss him and wish him all the best. Heart and soul player that played for the jersey. My also reaction when I heard he was leaving? Meh. No big deal. He's replacable, very replacable. For 200k/week I want hard to replace players.

Herreras gone, he'll be missed and thought of fondly as someone that gave his all and that'll be that. Remembered for effort and nothing more. But a huge void he does not leave. I'd like to have seen him stay but at nowhere near what he was asking. So....bye bye.

What is it about him that you think makes him a quality signing for PSG?

Well it's dreamland for Liverpool now. City have been awful and Brighton can go full bus now.

Wonder if that Brighton goal was actually good for City, they looked like they were sleepwalking before that.

Yeah I think that Brighton goal was a blessing in disguise. City have dominated since.

Well I thought starting Mahrez was a mistake, but a great goal and an assist shows I know nothing.

I'm sure pep would trade the domestic treble for a shot at the champions league final.. But I think back to back league championships is a lot to be proud of

Well, who would have guessed City would rattle of 14 straight? We had a great season, but City have set the bar so high now that great isn't good enough. Congrats to them.

Liverpool will lose one game and not win the league. Crazy. But yeah that's why I hope we mostly hear about the credit City deserve rather than anything about Liverpool choking. 14 straight to close it out, often playing after Liverpool had applied the pressure, just a remarkable achievement. 198 points in two years is insane.

Liverpool deserve that championship more IMO
City were great but I think Liverpool were actually the better squad this season.

Great seasons from both teams really.

Completely disagree.

Liverpool got lucky on multiple occasions between goalie gaffes, offside goals, missed dives etc that probably beniffited them eight points or so. You just can't say the same about city overall.

At the end the difference turned out to be a couple of things. Liverpool couldn't beat a vulnerable injury ridden 10 man United team. And City's squad was more versatile able to adapt to and overcome numerous challenges that Liverpool couldn't.

Like the wind, rain, dry pitches, to name a few.

And everyone knows that no other team in the League has ever benefited from a little luck here and there like getting lots of additional time to score late goals.
