I'm in the same boat! I only have an 8 year old whiskey in my house, but it feels right to celebrate a little bit.

Pretty simple solution. Date her for the next week and if the Flames somehow lose these last 3 games kick her to the curb and get back to smashing random pissers in time for a long playoff run.

When listening to pundits pontificate on the playoffs, I keep reading about how San Jose and Vegas are dangerous. Vegas is supposed to be the team to beat in the west. St Louis is a team "no one wants to face". San Jose was getting all kinds of adulation when they had won 7 straight, and Winnipeg and Nashville are top teams and still favorites despite recent struggles.
Calgary is leading the West by EIGHT points and have goal differential that's THIRTY goals better than second place Winnipeg.
Boston and Toronto apparently are the second and third best teams in the league and it's a shame they're facing each other in the first round.
Only 7 teams in the last ten years have had a better goal differential. That puts Calgary in the top 8 of 302 teams for goal differential (assuming it doesn't drop significantly in the last 3 games).
Correct me if I'm wrong, but I haven't heard anyone talk about them as a favorite to win the West even, nevermind the Cup

Respectively, it doesn’t matter. The playoffs matter.

The flames built the team the right way. Draft and develop players outside of the first round. Have a scouting staff that picks up undrafted players and develops them in the AHL. Have an owner who supports the team, but doesn’t interfere with the hockey operations. Have a GM who makes the hard trades to address positions of need and signs players to reasonable contracts. Have a head coach who puts players in a position to succeed. And most importantly, have players who want to play for each other.
One more thing...Go FlamesGo.

Ehhh, maybe. You'd want to, certainly. But if I had them I'd be jittery and shaking.

Two drafts earlier we picked Johnny Gaudreau. Mikael Backlund & TJ Brodie came into their own. Gio took over as captain and continued his excellence as the leader of the team. In 2016, we drafted Matthew Tkachuk. Add some decent signings & trades and this is what we have. Western Conference champs. It's a great feeling.

Not yet. Don't be like Nashville, the only thing the Flames are that's banner worthy at the moment is Pacific Division champs

Yeah babyyyyy!!
(In my best Peter Maher voice)
Now rest who needs it and feed the puck to Gio so he can hopefully hit 20 goals and get that Norris!

Flames are +61, the Oilers are -37. We are 2 goals from lapping them. That would be a sweet accomplishment for next Saturday.

By "Western Conference Champs" I was referring to the regular season. Obviously we still got another challenge ahead of us.

I don't disagree, but sports are entertainment because of narratives and common experience. None of it really matters in the end, but I am curious why there's less recognition of what the Flames have done.
