Smith, to me at least, is starting to look more and more like the go to starter in the playoffs.

Why is Prout even in the line-up if Peters only trusts him with Brodie down with him on the third pairing? Been the same every game he has drawn in.

Is there anything commentators like more than Smith playing the puck which I think every fan of a team who he's played for wishes he wouldn't do.

Smith looks like he's always blaming one of his teammates when he lets in a bad goal.

My assumption is that it's a strategic move to deal with the very large Anaheim forwards who like to forecheck very hard. Also likely a reason why Smith is in so his puck handling can break up the dump and chase.

What I am shocked at is we have not seen Kylington out there since the deadline. I passed a bunch of it off as getting Fantenberg up to speed on systems but drawing Prout in over the kid who could use some ice?

Ya I’m not trying to lament Brodie, he just is the wrong type of player to pair with a guy like Prout. Their positioning has been completely off as well and the flames gave up 2 prime chances because of it. I would split them ASAP, frankly I’m confused why Prout is playing. He’s been a serviceable guy but there’s 3 better Dmen sitting

You have to respect his opinion. He has been an NHL Head Coach and GM.

People see what they want to see I guess. Neal has been one of the better players on the team since his return from injury.
It’s what happens when people search for the bad and not for the good

Prout typically plays when the other team might goon it up. The Ducks don't really have anyone like that, so not really sure why he's playing. He is the worst of the 70 defenseman on the roster.

Woah, woah, woah there....you're going to put Oscar Wilde out of business with witty retorts like that. Dumb it down a little for the rest of us.

Stone isn't good and hasn't been good for a while. No need to play him over Fanta. I would dress him over Prout however.

Sure, but thats just fans. If the team didnt want it theyd have shut it down long ago. But every time we hear any NHL coach/GM turned media say how much he saves wear and tear on D men, its true. Its not often you see our D men get pasted on the back boards fighting puck battles.

Could Smith pick and choose his times to come out and play the puck better? Well yes of course, but 80% of the time hes bang on. Probably more like 90%, but Im down playing a bit.

Stone was perfectly fine last year. I don't know if you're judging him based on his 11 games in October -- that doesn't seem very fair to me

Speak for yourself I personally like that he does it and saves our defense getting pounding into the board retrieving pucks.
