Atletico still really only need one but they have not looked remotely threatening.

Ronaldo is dragging Juve to the round kicking and screaming...
The man is worth the money apparently.

Schalke should have forfeited the match before it started, would have only lost 6-2 on aggregate.

Whats really too bad is that Buffon isnt there. I'd really like to cheer for him to win the CL but not with Paris.

Well Atletico deserved to lose, I know their MO is to defend but they needed one goal to ice the tie and they barely had any possession in the final third. Terrible performance.

honestly, I'll never understand why so many football fans kneel before him. Always thought he's a jerk.

I still remember when Ronaldo used to be criticized at United for not getting the job done in the CL. Just looked it up, it took him 27 CL games to score his first goal (2007 in the 7-1 win over Roma). Amazing when you think about it.

You take that back.
Buffon is amazing and a treasure. It really is too bad that he went to go chase a CL with PSG though, only for Ronaldo to then join Juventus.
I have a feeling if he knew that was in the cards he probably sticks around one more season because it's not like they replaced him with anybody remarkable in goal at Juve.

Why?
I've always felt that most Italian players are jerks but Buffon has always come across as one of the classy ones.

My understanding is Juve thought he was retiring, and he had a change of heart. Szczesny was already the de facto #1, so they weren't willing to pay him the kind of cash (or term) that he got at PSG. I also think because the plan was to spend big on CR7, they signed a younger GK who was highly touted to challenge Szczesny, and if they both flopped, they'd spend cash on a new #1. Both have been quite good in the league and coppa though.
Still painful to see Buffon in PSG colours though.

What a strange comment to make without any context?
He's pretty much universally respected in the sport, similar to an Iginla type athlete.

True, if I remember correctly his plan was about to retire until about 2 weeks left in the season when offers came in.
Even at that time though I think one of the rumors was a big offer from the team Cannavaro manages in China, but then it ended up being PSG that actually increased the wages he had at Juve while still offering Champions League football.
I think the long term goal for Juve will still probably be to poach Donnarumma if they can though.

the guy who wore 88 and flirted with neo-facism early in his career, faked a highschool diploma and threw a childish tantrum last year is an Iginla type athlete? Fine. Not necessarily in my book, but yeah, seems everybody just loves the guy and I'm an exception.
great goalkeeper, fantastic career. Doesn't mean I have to like the guy.
