I was under the impression that all Flames fans got handys from the father from AIPS.

These are the straws the Oiler fans need to grasp right now as they are in the midst of a nightmare season. Oilers started their tankbuild in 2009/10 so coming up on a decade next year.
They laughed as the Flames continued to push for the playoffs too long with their old core of Iginla and Kipprusoff. The Oilers had drafted 1st overall 3x in a row before the Flames decided to tear it down.
In the 6 years since the Flames joined their neighbors to the north in rebuilding their team with young talent they are about to make the playoffs for the 3rd time in those 6 years, and this year they are 2nd overall and best in the west. The Flames are what a rebuild should look like. 6 years in they are as legit of a cup contender as any team. 4 forwards 25 or younger near ppg and 4 Dmen 22 or younger showing a ton of promise.
In those same 6 years the Oilers drafted in the top 10 in 5 of those 6 years. One year they looked like they were on the right path and that was clearly an outlier. Even the Canucks who were peaking as the best team in the league during the Oilers tankbuild have torn their team down and seemingly passed the Oilers on the rebuild track as well.
I would like to say I feel bad for you and Oiler fans but I just don’t. The arrogance that fanbase has maintained over the past dozen years is so confusing and comical.

I would say that's the kicker right there when it comes to hiring a competent GM and a competent coach for the Oilers. Will anyone who is not insane or desperate for a job be willing to be the next guy who gets fired from the Oilers never to be heard of again? It has taken Dallas Eakins half a decade during what was supposed to be his prime coaching years to get back to a point where he is even in the conversation for a NHL gig again. Noone else has been able to recover from being part of coaching or managing the Oilers. Why would upcoming GM talent risk cutting their career short by getting themselves drowned in Edmonton water?

No, they don't. Which is in part why the OEG will be handing the job over to Keith Gretzky.

The OBC probably are telling Katz that the reason the Oilers were so bad is that Chiarella and McLellan never played for the 80's Oilers. You need someone that lived a dynasty, and not just a one cup wonder like Chiarelli to understand what it takes to win.
Keith Gretzky is the closest they will get right now since Wayne is on a bender with Garth.

I'm tempted to print a resume, old school style on a dot matrix printer, and mail it to the Oilers. Only demand would be that I don't actually have to watch the games, and can Skype into any internal meetings.

I'm seeing articles saying that Seattle will be looking for a GM as early as this summer.
If this is the case why would any sane person apply for the GM position in Edmonton now?

What the hell. Left work it was 1-1. Got home and it's 5-1. Babcock must have chewed their asses off in that first intermission.
