Oh good lord poor Steinberg. This guy on Overtime right now saying we should make Michael Stone a forward so he produces like Mark Stone, because he's got a
"similar build". You could just tell through the radio Steinberg wanted to facedesk.
Seriously.. do people think before they call in to give their "take?"
He knows when it actually matters...guy has been to the finals two years in a row. It wouldn't be all that shocking if he is saving putting his body on the line for when it really matters. Its not like the Flames are in a playoff race, they have clinched in February
So let me get this straight...
“He hasn’t been trying his hardest, because he’s saving himself for the playoffs?”
Good lord, I need a new Neal excuse Rolodex, the last one is full.
Out of curiousity, why wasn’t he being physical before we’d clinched a playoff spot?
Back to the original posters question...who comes out for Neal?

Paddy needs the patience of Job some nights on his call in show! Some of the callers are doozies!
Fair enough but it takes some serious cajones to take on that monster...and Kane hung in there.
He did not "take him on." He jumped him, punched him while he was down, then winced and turtled the moment it was time to face the music. Wishing injury on another player is not my style, but that guy had that beating coming.

1 great player who generates 90% of their offense
Functional team defense
Insane goalie
They did not look like a division leading team at all in the 2 games against the Flames. If I didn't know the standings I would probably think they're in like 22nd place.
Hopefully Smith is ok, otherwise nothing to really complain about tonight.

Smith himself has said he is fine so...he is fine.
Guy got badly hurt in almost the exact situation last year and he certainly wasn't shooting at empty nets...he was getting hauled off the ice
I’m not your buddy, pal.
I’m not sure what point you are making.
Smith was favouring something. Is it plausible that he is hurt bad enough to require a bit of time to heal? Sure. Groins, muscle strains, they are like that. You don’t know sometimes until it cools down, or until the next day.
He played the puck. You saw it.
It’s plausible that he is hurt but played the puck.
Hamonic was hurt worse and played hockey still.
So playing hockey doesn’t mean you aren’t hurt. Make sense?

So I didnt just watch Kane and Chara face to face and Kane holding on for dear life and not turtling/falling down to have the fight ended?
I get that he hit Chara cheaply down on the ice, which may be even more insane than just squaring up cause that just pokes the bear.
I have no problem with the beating he took either, but again it takes some serious ones to even try that stuff with Chara. He is nasty scary.
So you’re saying James Neal isn’t trying his hardest? Yes/No
Gio is 6? years older...is he not trying his hardest either?
Gio and his 8 games of career playoff experience?
Neal wasn't going all out earlier in the season...he started to go to the tough areas more after the all star break...anyone with eyeballs could see that.
A guy that goes to the finals two seasons in a row isn't as worried about game 22 as some other players are.
Not saying he didn't try but he was certainly more of a perimeter player than he was last season in the playoffs. He has also played more games than almost any player in the league over the last three seasons.
Are you suggesting he forgot how to play hockey over the summer? The league is full of guys who play better in the playoffs, there are countless examples.
