I have no issue with what Bieksa or Colby Armstrong said regarding their thoughts on why the Sharks and Vegas are built better for playoff hockey in their opinion.

Except neither San Jose nor Vegas play "big" either.

Speed and skill is the new NHL. Asking a guy who thrived only in the previous era of the game doesn't change that, as much as he'd like to think otherwise.

This team is built a certain way and is starting to peak. I guess we will find out, but I am constantly amazed how much traditional truculence is being taken out of the game. Eventually that evolution will reach playoff hockey too.

OK but those were one line teams ANA beat, not to mention missing Gio.

I disagree. If we play a sandpaper game against those 2 teams we lose out.

Reaves hits from 2018. I remember the one at 2:02 against Brodie quite well. Flames didn't have much response.

Lol San Jose is not a “big physical team” and neither is Vegas outside of Reaves

Why would we play a sandpaper game? We'll play the game that has us ahead of both clubs on the season.

Why don't we just play them the way we've been beating them.

Are we really surprised Bieska feels teams need more of what he figures he brings / brought to the table as a player? Just human nature. And when it comes to Flames playoff success, for regardless the reason they site, very fair for anyone to have more faith that teams that have got it done in the past are more likely to get it done in the future.

But this is a young and very different team then past Flames versions, and you got to start somewhere and sometime if you are going to win

4 years ago Bieksa didn’t like Calgary’s chances? How that work out for ya “big boy”?

I think he has a point. If the Flames get sucked into physical games against SJ or Vegas, I don't think the Flames win that. Of course, they should be able to force those teams into playing their style, and in that case, only SJ still scares me.

One more top 6 forward with some size and grit (and can mostly keep up) would make a big difference, but the opportunity cost can't be ridiculous, since the window is just opening, and there's no need to go all in yet. I like Simmonds if the cost is a 2nd and 3rd or two conditional thirds that become 2nds if the Flames win a couple rounds or re-sign him.

San Jose has never gotten it done and have been embarrassed multiple times in the playoffs. Blowing series leads and getting dismantled by the Knights
