Yikes.
It's unfortunate that my comment on Duclair having size automatically led you to believe I thought that of him because of his skin color. If that's where your mind went immediately after reading my comment, I think it says more about you than me.
I also used the word "depth" but you didn't address it in your reply?
As a depth piece, he could potentially slide into the lineup over Mangiapane (5'10, 184), Czarnik (5'9, 170) or Dube (5'11, 183). Duclair would offer a size advantage in a physical playoff series as a depth piece, given who he would replace.
But, thank you for calling me out

I *think* / hope that remark was a reference to the poster that claimed everyone else was racist for thinking Wayne Simmonds was tough.

You can also watch Brodie over the past two years, no Giordano.

Time spent under Gulutzan is meaningless.

Unless you are Gio, Gaudreau, Tkachuk or Monahan. Or Hamilton.

I think brodie is super replaceable in our roster and have for like 4 years. If we need to use him to grab a premier piece with years left on a contract or with extension in place I think it's a great play. Otherwise let's get as much value as possible for him this summer.

Soo, you are telling me all of the star players did okay under Gulutzan besides Brodie.. they overcame the "black cloud" of Gulutzan because they were star players.
Yet, the poster gives Brodie a pass under Gulutzan. Maybe he wasnt a top pairing dman if he couldn't overcome adversity?

I’ll take a stab...
Brodie, Smith, Dube + 2019 1st for Stone and Anderson
The addition of Anderson takes $4.75M off of the Sens books for next year, lessening the cost of Stone a touch.
Valimaki is healthy again and Mike Stone can’t be far behind. There’s going to be a logjam on the back end soon.

But is it about money or he just wants to play for a different team? 8x8 is alot of money I don't know why he wouldn't take that.

My laugh of the day: I made the mistake of reading a Leafs article on the Athletic because it was on its most popular list - 10 trade targets for the Leafs.
I stopped reading when I read that Chris Kreider is "almost like a Zach Hyman 2.0"

A little exaggerated but close. I think he's a top pairing guy if he's given the right circumstances. Gio is a top pairing guy for anyone, with any partner.

Dreger on TSN:
Stone decision about Sens latest offer expected Tuesday or Wednesday (because they have games on Thrusday, Friday, and Sunday)
says the Leafs and Rangers have had discussions on Adam McQuaid.

I agree. Brodie is great at some things, but he also makes some boneheaded passes and poor decisions sometimes. He needs to be covered or bailed out by other players quite a bit. The things he does great seem to make the mistakes more tolerable among some fans. I do think though that if he has a decent season next year, some team is going to overpay for him as a UFA. I really hope we sell high on him before that, because I can't see us being able to keep him under the cap... would be a shame to lose him for nothing. I can see us getting a really decent prospect or 1st rounder for him.
But it has to be in the off-season. Right now, he plays big minutes on a contending team. It is not worth potentially upsetting chemistry by moving him. Plus, all indications are that he is well liked on the team.
Doing it in the off-season gives the team time to sort things out before camp and the chemistry can be rebuilt from game 1.

I am still hoping that Brad Treliving upgrades the goaltending before the playoffs begin.
It's the most important position on the team.

In the last 15 years, i can only think of the oilers upgrading goaltending late in the season and it having a profound effect on the team's playoff run (roloson).
I am still unclear on whether the flames try to do something in goal, nor am I sure I want them to.
