In the biggest moment, Brees threw a perfect pass on a wheel route to Lewis who was blatantly hit early. Game over if the refs were competent. Brady received a mystery roughing the passer call, and a gift offside while throwing a pick himself....

While it was certainly a penalty, it also certainly was not a perfect pass. If the Rams defender looked at the ball it was an easy interception, because the pass itself was actually off target. The announcers themselves were saying this.

Where to start with this..

First off the throw was terrible, DB turns around hes running back for 6. On what planet that is a perfect wheel route I'm not sure.

Second yes the roughing the passer was soft call, however there was 12 minutes left in the 4th and edelman was clearly held on that route anyways which didn't get a flag

Third, how many camera angles do you need to see or how many KC coaches/players have to tell you it was the right flag and he lined up offside? So your statement of a gift is perplexing.. Why dont we look at the obvious pick play on JC Jackson that allowed the Chiefs to set up that go ahead TD late in the 4th. Or lets look at the 2 pass interference calls against Kelce and Watkins (one in the endzone) that got called while Gronk got held by Berry on every single route he ran with zero calls.

Finally, yes the refs missed the call, yes you got jobbed but no one told your defense to let them drive the field and score the game tying FG. No one made Ingram lose 6 yards on first down in the first play of overtime. And FINALLY no one made Brees throw a terrible throw with pressure in his face that got picked up.

At first i felt bad for the Saints but man, get over it you had your chances to win the game earlier and after the play and they didn't. Now we get to hear the whines for the rest of time.

I don't think he's disputing that the guy was offside. I think it's more along the lines of Brady being a beneficiary of a pretty substantial brain fart by an opposing player.

I think Brady has been very good....but Belichick is the Engine driving that team.

In a game that features hundreds of plays, it is astounding how seemingly small details on certain ones can have big impacts.

Richard Sherman had an interesting tweet after the Saints game;

Quote:
Love it. Pick plays=good play. Anything defense does =penalty
He is kind of right as so many teams are running pick plays that never get called and it's almost unfair to defenders.

That was actually discussed on Sirius NFL radio by Ross Tucker and Charlie Weis that it was an easy pick 6 if the DB is looking for the ball on the play so there is merit there. Not an excuse for the PI of course. To me Brees just wasn't that great in both playoff games this year. He is 40 years old after all so I don't hold it against him but I kind of feel father time started catching up to him as the season progressed.

I couldn’t disagree more with their takes, especially when you look the play broken down. The Saints movement and formation had all of the Rams D moving left, and the db scrambling from the other side of the field, resulting in the clear PI. Brees’ arm looked a little tired down the stretch, but lack of a TE threat and WR option other than Thomas, really slowed the O.

Kinda like how during the infamous 2004 "It was in" moment, the Flames were still 1 goal away from the Cup, on home ice, and couldn't do it. Then had another shot to win it two nights later...and couldn't do it. And yet 15 years later to this day, an "It was in" crested jersey waved on the Dome jumbotron still draws a standing O. Many circles of Flames fans still claim the Cup to this day over that, and that we were robbed.

The non-PI was much worse, given it was cut and dry and "it was in" was not, and it's only been 4 days. Of course you're still going to hear about it at this point in time. Even if you are already tired of hearing about it, surely Flames fans can at least understand it.

Haha this is a very good point actually! Touche, I'm just worried about another tuck rule call being highlighted every single game the pats are mentioned with playoffs haha!

Agreed, he was open and the defender was out of position trying to make up yards, wasnt a really risky throw at that point. If the defender had good coverage, would have been a poor decision as there would be a small margin of error. not a saints fan but that was pretty bad

If a laser to the eye could cause injury (especially in a professional athlete) could you charge the fan with a 'assault' charge?

The Tony Romo prediction? 24 has the ball with a chance to win the game but doesn't score?

Lots of interest match ups to watch in this game. The Rams have a physical offensive line and can make this a
Battle in the trenches. But the Patriots always come up with schemes to get teams away from what they do best.

I expect that the Rams defence will be able to generate some pressure on the inside with Aaron Donald. Will be interesting to see what the Patriots do to neutralize him. I expect New England to use James White a lot today as the Rams don't really tackle well in space on the outside.

I say New England wins 34-28 and Gronk's after party makes Ovechkins summer look like Bridge night at the Seniors home. McVey has a lot of talent to work with but the Devil hasn't come to collect on old Bill just yet

That is awesome, especially if he was retiring, no holds barred.

Rams 38 Pats 17.....assuming Suh intentionally injures Brady in the first quarter. Truly it's the role he was born to play, the culmination of his legacy of cheap shots is to end the Pats dynasty that way.

I've got the Pats winning it all today. And also go Pats #StillSalty

Don't go against Brady in the playoffs
