The Flyers have won 6 in a row and are now just 9 points back of the BJs for 8th place in the eastern conf. The Flyers had 2 PPGs including the GWG in OT which was scored by Sanheim. The Bruins had 1 PPG while Rask was a stud in net for the Bruins as Philly out shot Boston 41-25, he's the reason the Bruins were able to get a point. Pastrnak with 2 goals and now has 30 on the season.

The Rangers-Devils game was a PPG contest with the first 4 goals scored in the game were on the man-advantage. Zibanejad scored a hat trick, 2 PPGs and the GWG with under 5 minutes in reg time, and an assist. His linemate, Zuccarello, had 3 assists as the Rangers are 8 points back of the 8th place in the east.

The Jets pulled it out, darn. The Jets are 2nd in the west and now have a 4 point lead on the Predators. Panarin and Trouba each had 2 points. It could've been a different result if Cam Atkinson was playing for the BJs. From the CBC post game link, "Atkinson was bloodied up by a puck in warmups as players fired shots on an empty goal. Lukas Sedlak's shot caromed off the crossbar and smashed into Atkinson's mouth, and he was replaced in the lineup by Mark Letestu."

Not sure I would phrase it as "just 9 nine points back". It's a terribly long and hard climb ahead of them.

Totally agree that they're a long shot to make it. It's just that they were in the dumps and further back as they had an 8 game losing streak prior to their winning streak and lost 14 of 17. Quite the turn around for now and they have a 5 game home stand coming up.

As long as they beat the living crap out of the Oilers coming off their break I will be happy.

Nine points is essentially insurmountable in the final thirty-games. The Flyers are not a “long shot.” They are for intents and purposes out of the race. Even if CBJ plays no better than .500 (they will) Philadelphia would still need to win twenty of their final thirty games. That on it’s own would be impressive, and yet still not good enough to make the playoffs.
