oh i won't be shedding a tear for sick tyrants like hussein.
now let's get his backers, his supporters, the ones who gave him weapons, the ones who supported his rise to power, the ones who betrayed him.
if hussein is guilty then donald rumsfeld et al are super-duper-guilty.

I'm confused. You're saying someone'd crap their pants just watching an execution?
Himmler committed suicide, by the way.

i'm saying that the brave brave souls that cackle at the death of others as long as they don't have to actually do it themselves, cannot handle the reality of it.
himmler blew chunks while at his first live execution, despite the directives and cheerleading and doctrines he'd been responsible for.

Interesting, Himmler was a wimp, from everything I've read, but I've never read that he puked at his first execution. Let me know where you read that, I'd like to check it out.

i'm pretty sure 'the rise and fall of the third reich' and it was also alluded to in the movie 'the odessa file' (jon voigt, great flick).
i feel kinda silly saying 'it's in there somewhere' in a 1400 page book though...

Im actually proud of the world or whoever was responsible for this not being shown.
Back when i first heard that Saddam was going to be executed I imagined that it would be the largest PPV telecast ever. To be honest I don't know if I could handle watching it knowing that it is real and not in a movie, although I have been desensitived quite a bit from seeing it in movies many times before.
Actually I probably would watch it, It would probably be very somber, but I guess I watch the planes going into the WTC many times. although a lil different, in a sense very much the same.

Well, supposedly it was recorded on video, and photographs were taken, who knows, might just pop up soon, many will get their wish to see him die.

CNN has announced that there will be still photo's released shortly by the Iraqi government.

and he refused to wear the black mask...
but:

There had been concerns that people might not believe that Saddam was really dead, so the execution was videoed.
It is expected that the video will be made public at some stage, in order to offer the final proof, though it will stop short of showing the actual death.

They also mentioned that he picked a fight and struggled with a guard, and clutched the Koran as he was hung. I very much doubt that God will believe in his faith.
Its interesting that they used Shi'a members of the Iraqi defense force to carry out the execution.
Interesting party happening in Deerborn Mich.

everyone's proxy wargasm over now?
can we get back to the really real world in which saddam wasn't responsible for 9/11 already?
oh yeah, i forgot. he's 'the bad guy'.
except when he's the good guy. like when he gassed people with canisters sold to him by the neo-cons currently busy dismantling his country.

i wonder who the next hussein will be, my bet's on mussharaf.
his book leaked a few unpleasant 9/11 things that some people might not appreciate, like the double agent status of some informants.
the well-publicized account of his trusted ISI chief mahmoud wiring mohammad atta $100,000 not long before 9/11 through one said informant may be trotted out as evidence for musharraf being 'always with the terrorists but we never had all the evidence till now'.
can't wait for the next two-minutes-hate, it'll be double-plus-good.

I don't get your connection, this execution had nothing to do with 9/11 at all. And Hussein, was an extremely bad guy, a thug, a mass murderer, hell he even raised his two sons to be just as evil as him. I doubt anyone in the world is mourning his passing.
Saddam Hussein gassed his own people, not the "Neo-Cons", he made the choice to kill thousands of his own citizens, most of them on trumped up charges fueled by his own paranoia, he tortured and raped for his own pleasure.
If anyone is well suited to a hanging it was Saddam.

CaptainCrunch...
if you don't see that saddam was linked to 9/11 in public manipulation then i guess there's not much i can do for you.
never been a big fan of hussein but to separate his crimes from the crimes of rumsfeld, cheney, et al does true justice a tremendous misservice.
interesting as well that the current iraqi administration stooges and american forces have used white phosphorus on fallujah, isn't that considered a weapon of mass destruction, chemical or otherwise...?

I haven't seen one mention of 9/11 or any linkage during his trial that lead to his death sentence. You seem to be eager to link it. One has nothing to do with the other.
And yes I am seperating Hussein's crimes from the others, Saddam made his own decisions, in dropping gas on citizens, executing 140 people in reprisals for an attempt on his life whether they were involved or not, and various other instances of mass murder and torture. Hussein was tried in his countries legal system for crimes against his own citizen's found guilty and paid the price.
To link the U.S. government to these crimes directly is something that I'm just not following. It would be similar to charging the manufacturer of rat poison for selling rat poison to a husband that poisoned his wife with it.
Did the U.S. supply Saddam with weapons, sure Hussein was a sop against a hostile Iranian government, but they certainly didn't control Saddam's decisions, or his mental state.
White Phosphorus is not considered a weapon of mass destruction as far as I know. while it is a chemical weapon it dosen't have the same wide spread capability as using a uncontrolled nerve agent, caustic or blister agent.
The U.S. has confirmed that it used it in fallujah against known insurgent positions to both drive them out of hiding, and create battlefield illumination. They didn't target wide spread civilian use.
White Phosporus is also a key ingredient in smoke generating artillary shells
