So, is a Sweatpant suit now called the "Edmonton Tuxedo?"
With good shoes (natch) to complete the look?

Yes! I was embarrassed for him. You could actually hear the perpetual pout on his face. They asked him who was going to right the ship and he said Bobby Nic. They asked him how, he doesn't really have a hockey background. And he told us about how tight he is with Bobby, and that he's a leader. You don't know him like I do. Okay then Shannon, but can you answer the f'in question? His "something in the water" quote identified that he doesn't have a clue what the actual problem is.

As someone mentioned, Nicholson has had almost 5 years to fix whatever is wrong behind the scenes in Edmonton, and hasn't done anything... So, he either didn't see anything, didn't look for anything or didn't fix anything.
he's not the genius that Edmonton fans thought he was
I think that his time with hockey Canada needs to be taken with a grain of salt: being an executive with hockey Canada is probably as taxing as an executive on USA basketball... the job runs itself because the talent differential is always going to be pretty high. A lot of people criticized Yzerman too before he landed the TB job, calling him over rated...but in Yzerman's case, he proved himself as a very astute hockey mind... Nicholson hasn't shown anything outside his time with hockey canada
the longer Nicholson is there and the problems persist, the more likely it is that he has fallen into the black hole of non goodness...

Holy mother eff!! Maybe you can trick people by having really really good sweat pant material..... but having that draw string hanging out just defeats the purpose!
It looks like dress pants for really obese people.

I think in Calgary you could have an Oilers plate on your car and not worry but not the other way around.

And Flames fans are budgeting for playoff tickets first, while Oiler fans have some disposable income to be loading up on water filters, white Oakleys, license plates, and Top Flite XL golf balls for the spring.

Sure, they may have sold more plates, but I bet if you drive around Edmonton, you wouldn’t see to many on the road as they are all probably sitting under a pile of trash in the owners garages. I’d be legit embarrassed to rock a plate on my vehicle when my team was that bad.
That, or else the plate would have fallen off after the 187th pothole of the day

Found the discussion. Starts at around 46:10. John Shannon now lives in Edmonton and drinks and bathes in the kool-aid now.
https://www.sportsnet.ca/590/prime-t...y-round-table/
Shannon goes nuts, defends Nicholson and patronizes the rest of the cast at 54:00.
At 59:46, he trusts his "instincts" about McDoofus and him wanting to stay in Edmonton long term.

I have never been a fan of John Shannon. To me, he comes across as an arrogant blowhard. He is difficult to listen to and I question his knowledge in some of his discussions or comments on television. Then again, this fits in perfectly with the Edmonton Oilers culture and everyone surrounding that pitiful organization, the majority of fans and media. Unfortunately, if he lives in Edmonton, he has likely fallen victim to whatever is in the water up there.

Paying extra for any vanity plate couldn't be further towards to bottom of my priority list. But maybe that's just me. Has nothing to do with my opinion of the Flames.

A blast from the past!
Who can forget the comedy stylings of "Flames fan living in Edmonton" Jeromer2.0, who "hates the Oilers as much as anyone"?
And yet...

We miss you, Jeromer2.0. For such a big Flames fan as yourself it is surprising that you have been a scarce visitor to CP since your favourite team became an NHL powerhouse. God speed, friend.

There's also the factor of taste. I have a Flames vanity plate but acknowledge that it doesn't exactly look great on my blue car. This plate will really only look good on a black or red car (maybe white). Good luck finding any car color that's going to look good in Oilers orange.
I'm just as big a Flames fan as a Raiders fan but I have much more Raiders gear because Silver & Black is a lot more stylish than red and yellow. I find most Flames merchandise to be ugly so I don't wear much of it. Doesn't make me less of a fan.

I don’t really understand how he’s managed to get his platform as an on air personality. I guess because he worked for Bettman for a few years at the NHL after being HNIC’s executive producer, and now he is just a water carrier for every ownership group on Sportsnet.
I remember him pumping the oversimplified argument last year about why he can’t see why Calgary can’t just give the Flames the same arena deal the Oilers received.
He’s a hollowed out bonehead who speaks just to hear himself.
