Hitch said he competes like no one else, in practice, warm-up, then hesitantly even said "in games". That's what he likes. Not his skill, but the fact that he gets himself out of position then tries hard to get back to the net.

It's actually incredible - could you screw it up more if you did it on purpose? Hard to believe.

Books need to be written about such a unique decade of such incompetence, nepotism and ultimate failure.
Jokes aside, you do have a very valid point.

And someone can argue ' Oh Edmonton is just not a place players want to play or no Free Agents want to sign there ' but that's wrong. Players will go if there's an opportunity to win. Did anyone think John Tavares would end up being a Maple Leaf just 4 years ago when Dion Phaneuf was their captain and Nonis was their GM??

Edmonton management is truely just a circus that is terrible at building hockey teams. They were trending in the right direction back in 2015-16 but boy have they just managed to hit all the wrong turns and completely ruin some good players.

And I feel bad for some of the player's who have no choice but to play on a sucky team (That doesn't include you Kassian and Lucic). I can honestly say as a die hard Flames fan that it's fun to watch Edmonton suffer, but I'm a hockey fan first and it's not fun to watch a good hockey player like McDavid not be able to play to his full potential.

McNugget deserves all of the -'s he gets. His effort on that 2nd goal against was putrid. Skates into the offensive zone at 30KPH, floats back during the Wings rush, didn't even try to get back.

He hasn't been good over the last few games, but for all of his offense, he gets a major pass for his lazy back checking and defensive flybys.

That's what bothers me when people talk like he's the best player on earth. He's the fastest but he's not even close to a complete player.

Really worried that tonight may be Chiarelli’s last game. The oilers need to give him more time.

They're not letting him go before the trade deadline. What's the point, if the team wants him to push for the playoffs then he's the guy in the best position to do it.

They're not going to bring in a GM to try to execute a make the playoffs strategy.

Its more then likely that he'll lame duck til the end of the season.

Let's not get too excited. This is the Wings after all. They could easily blow this lead even to a team like the Oilers.

I heard he traded it for a 1984 camper van and a $50 Chili's gift card.

I look at players that immediately did better after they left Edmonton, and players/prospects that completely stalled their development after being drafted by Edmonton, and I can't help but wonder how much better McDavid would be already if a club that knew WTF it was doing actually drafted him.
