If watching Brady, Belichick and the Patriots in the Super Bowl has become blase and boring, I don't know so many people even bother watching during the season. By now it's basically become a certainty. No need to come back until Tom retires in a couple seasons.

It's baffling to me how many fans seem to hate the Patriots. Jordan, Jackson, and the Bulls were beloved during their dynasty. Why are the Patriots so hated? Because they have a slight affiliation with Donald Trump... who cares about their political beliefs? Jordan, Jackson, and the Bulls were no saints themselves.

This is true, which is why maybe splitting the difference would be the team that scores a touchdown after getting the ball first has to go for two to win, and if they don't get it the other team can win with a TD and an XP (the team who scores first can also kick the XP to add an additional strategic consideration). Basically turns the 50/50 portion into an actual play rather than a coin toss. But the defense doing their job argument sucks because the Pats just allowed 24 points in a quarter. They would have lost had KC won the toss and we'd be having the same discussion except mostly everyone would love the current OT rules.

I really agree with you. I want to add that besides giving up that slant on inside seam on third down plays, that the last TD in regulation and the winning ot td both came from runs inside the tackles. You have to get those stops and not let them just run power through the heart of your defense.

Mahomes had Williams open for a TD late in the first half but missed that throw. 2 plays later lost big yards on a sack and New England drives for a TD to get up 14.

I'd say losing out on those first half points cost the game.

Bob Sutton has to be let go though. They need to change up the defence somehow as his schemes have failed in the playoffs.

Maybe KC should have tried two more throws to the end zone at the end of the game.

I prefer the CFL's overtime format. Mahomes (or any QB for that matter) not seeing the field in OT seems really unfair, even if the defense did allow a major.

I also don't remember Bulls fans being nearly as obnoxious as Pats fans are.

The worst part about the "play defense" argument is that it's saying one side needs to play defense in order to get it's offense the ball, while the other offense is virtually guaranteed to get the ball because of a coin toss. Why didn't the Patriots defense have to play any plays in OT? One more revolution on the coin flip giving the Chiefs the ball wouldn't be fair either. Just a sad way to end things, and Matthew Slater might be the actual GOAT because he's two for two in Pats OT playoff games on coin toss calls, victories where the other team never saw the ball.

Tuck rule - Correct Call
-Deflategate - Complete Farce
-Spygate - Legit Complaint
-Weakest division in the league - 30-10 (.750 winning%) in playoffs against best the NFL has to offer

The two best teams are in the Super Bowl, they've earned it.

Pats interception on the one yard line and going for it on 4th in easy field goal range left points on the board so tough to say missing those 3 cost you the game when the pats left 6 on the field maybe even 10

Glad we'll get CBS for the Superbowl, loved Romo's work.
He sure nailed alot of Brady's plays, it's like he was the OC he knew so many plays.

I'm trying to find something interesting about the Super Bowl matchup.

This will be the 8th Super Bowl rematch in history. It is the first rematch where one of the teams has moved cities and the first time we get a rematch in back to back years.

It was the wrong call. In fact the tuck rule wasn't even the call on the field. The official called it an incomplete pass which was incorrect. The NFL came out after the game with the tuck rule as justification for the mistake even though that wasn't the call the official made.

Personally I feel the two best teams won yesterday. We all knew the Chiefs defense was terrible and that was the difference yesterday. I think Julian Edelman is still running wide open across the middle of the field as we speak. As for the other game while Saints fans have a right to be upset they also blew a big lead and Brees was throwing balls up for grabs and was lucky he wasn't picked off more than once as Goff was better.

Agreed, both teams need to possess the ball. its still nowhere near as bad as soccer or certain hockey tournaments where it is a shootout, that is the biggest joke to decide a winner

I'm actually amazed at how much water the pundits are willing to carry for the league after the farce last night. I heard a whole panel talking about substantive points ("red zone defence") as the key to the Rams winning, I heard another panel breeze past the PI call in 30 seconds to go on to talk about the play call on first for 10 minutes. No one appears willing to talk about the fact that the Rams should not be in the Super Bowl. And aside from some hand waving at the coin toss, same deal on the other end - all talk about how great Tom Brady is. What the heck was that roughing the passer call? It's like a big machine designed to never dwell for more than a few moments on any flaw with the league before trying to distract you with something else.

I'm not a conspiracy theorist but I'm actually sort of tempted to jump on Senator's bandwagon. Sort of. I won't, but they're really not making it easy.
