Edmonton fans don't understand that the playoffs are a different game.
They forget that in the last playoff McDavid was invisible, and Draisaitl's stats were misleading and while he had a unsustainable shooting performance, the rest of his game wasn't great.
The playoffs are about depth, the Oilers don't have it, the Flames do in spades.
They also forget that there is a certain latitude given in terms of being able to attack their top line. If they're mad now about every love tap that McDavid gets, they're going to lose it in the playoffs.
But the Oilers have nothing behind that. Plus the Oilers might be physically tougher, but they'll get skated into the ice by the flames.
But it doesn't matter, they ain't making the playoffs.

At least we have Norris Gio for this one. And Hamonic back in. But yeah, if you want the best of a rivalry at least let both sides come in rested. Ridiculous scheduling. Two meetings in a row!

Even though they are dramatically inferior players, the loss of Klefbom and Caggulia for the Oilers is relatively comparable to the Flames playing without their top defenseman and a top-six forward. That is hilarious. It's a big loss for them compared to the last game in Edmonton.

Edmonton Oilers have hurt Jesse Puljujarvi's confidence and his game, says Finnish sportswriter
Seppala wrote that Puljujarvi is trying to focus on physicality and defense gaming, which of course are important values for the young player.
Seppalla asked Puljujarvi about the possibility of being traded.
“Yes, I’ve seen rumour, but I just need to go day by day. I don’t think about trade,” Puljujarvi said.
Seppala then blasted the Oilers and said the young Finn might be liberated by a trade.”Yes Puljujärvi deserves criticism, but the same can be said of Edmonton Oilers regarding the development of young players… There are no signs of self-confidence in Puljujärvi, and it’s not only Jesse’s fault, Oilers should look the mirror too.”

They keep hanging on the same old crappy excuses for Poolparty. Oh noes the coach has ruined him, he has no confidence, blah blah blah blah blah
The cold hard fact of that matter is he's just not a good hockey player at the NHL level. He's now had multiple coaches. Two in the NHL and at least one at the AHL level and Surprise, he continued to suck in the same way. He's played up and down the line up and nothing.
Maybe the Oilers just need to realize that they drafted dudley mcduderson. That's right I said it. He's dumber then a post without the puck, a disaster in the making with the puck. He doesn't see the ice that well, and he couldn't hit the net with a sniper scope attached to his stick.
For those that think he needs a change of scenery and he'll make Poolpart great again (MPPGA hat now onsale at my online store). He won't because he lacks the tools to be good at this level, or the AHL level.
He's Yak light, he looked great at the junior level because he was more physically mature and you can get away with that in the slower lower levels. But the NHL, its unforgiving to players with a hockey brain the size of a pea.
I wouldn't doubt that when his contract expires at the end of the year that he and his agent will demand that he go back to play in Europe.
He's freaking done, man, done.

PullRV should be traded to Chicago. Deep dish pizza might be what he needs to turn the game around.

They should have started him in the AHL (if he was eligible), or let him play in Europe for a year or two.
The Oilers are always in such a hurry to sign their first round draft picks and throw them in the NHL. It's detrimental in a lot of ways because the player is not good enough to play in the top 6, but they can't develop their skills well playing with pylons on the 4th line. If you play a developing player on the 3rd and 4th lines for too long, then you end up developing a 3rd or 4th liner. To the Oilers defense though, it would be risky to wait and sign them because it would give them too much time to consider other options.
I honestly don't think there was anything wrong with the JP or even Yakupov selections, but the Oilers handled them all wrong.

If only we could get to Kevin Lowe’s Hockey News and change the front cover picture, we could get him to draft anyone!

No. Both Puljujarvi and Yakupov were not good picks.
That is to say that even had the Oilers abstained from playing both in the NHL in their rookies years; even had they let them develop for a year or two at lower levels Yakupov and Puljujarvi would not have ever developed into top-six NHL players.
