MOD EDIT: If you have a problem with a skill report it and the mod and skill teams can evaluate it, venting it isn't a good idea.
 Ok

This skill thing is a bit ridiculous. I was given an infraction for commenting on someones posting style? Am I honestly not allowed to comment on it? why don't we all just write "go flames go" that way we don't offend people. I would also like the chance to confront my accusser, he/she being whomever changed my skill. but hell I don't even know who did it. http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...063#post667063 |

If you have a problem with someone's posting style report it to a moderator. Don't slam the poster in the thread itself as it invariably derails the topic.

Question on the points, is there a set scale (each bad post is worht -1) or if you see a good/bad post, do you grade them between -10 to 10?

There is no scale. If you give rep it is either +x or -x.

Yeah, that's one thing I wish I could change in the software.. unfortunately it shows a number that's greater than +/-1 for a single rating, giving the impression that the person rated it.. The skill givers can only give a positive or negative rating, and the skill amount is a number that gets calculated.

Sorting the Members List by reputation, nobody has more than one square by their name. Is that because nobody has been given more than one + or - (other than maybe when they cancel each other out) or because it is only supposed to be + or -, with no counting of points given?
For example, if I post something that earns a negative score, I get given a negative skill point and it goes blue. Say I post something else a week later that also earns a negative point. Would I get a second blue box, or would it stay at just one?

You would get a second blue box after multiple bad posts (though I'm not sure the specific number).
There are a couple members that do have multiple boxes. At least 2 have 2 blues right now.

Yeah it's not a simple one box for one rating.. the first one of course like that, but to get the second square it could be 5-10 ratings, 20-30 for the third, 100 for the fourth etc...

Maybe there is something off with the sort members page.

The most boxes for any 1 poster is 1 box. and they still show up as red or green even if you hit refresh.

not sure about this ratings thing- seems to me that people with the blues (assuming blue is bad) seem to post the most.
plus, I don't have a red and I have been saying some good things now and again!

The ratings are to recognize quality not quantity.

There's an interesting thought: instead if "skill" have a +/- type of thing, going with the hockey related theme.

That's what I get too. Same when you go to their profile. Although I did notice my first poster with two blue squares today, so it's working within the threads.

That's why the system is flawed... you shouldn't have to post one good post a year to be a Red poster only to be drawed back into the blue because you enjoy posting more with perhaps not as much substance.

Bleus are handed out far too frequently, you can't expect a quality post each and every time. It just won't happen.

No one is expecting that. Red is handed out for really good posts, and blue for bad posts. No one is penalized for doing a high number of decidely mediocre posts.
