Do any of you go to the newish Goodlife in the sunridge area? what are the prices like? I dont really want to go back to WHC because it was an absolute zoo, and while i do think Goodlife would be crazy busy as well i was thinking, since its 24 hours maybe it would be a little more manageable??
It's not 24 hours, the sign says that but it is not. It is busy, but equipment is usually available.

I work out at the Sunridge good life and like it. It's very clean, probably the cleanest one in the city.

The 130th one (old golds) has a swimming pool and hot tub and is 24/7.

Sunridge one is only 24/7 Monday to Thursday.

It's $50 a month.

Have anyone tried the Winsport gym? I'm looking for a new gym and that one calls my attention.

I used the Winsport gym a couple years back when it first opened to the public until I moved to the south. I really enjoyed the gym and the staff and wish I was still a member there. Was a much better experience compared to your typical chain gyms, felt more exclusive. Though it was more expensive, but I believe they have dropped the pricing now. Equipment was great, was not busy at all, sometimes I was in their alone, but typically between 2-5 people.

Not sure how it is now, but back then it was an all in type membership. They provided you with a fitness assessment every 12 weeks, workout plan every 6 weeks, nutritional plan and coaching was readily available from a trainer on staff. Since the low members working out at a time, a bunch of times I basically had my own personal trainer during my workouts.

Downside was since it was sponsored by Under Armour, you had to wear Under Armour, but they gave you a weeks work of clothes when you signed up (shirts, shorts, pants, socks and a gym bag) which was a bonus.

Plus side was the Flames players worked out there (guessing some type of partnership). Worked out beside Ramo and Smid a couple times, as well as Kari Humphreys a bunch of times and other Olympic athletes.

I worked out there as well. I loved it. They cut the price in 1/2 because there was only 54 members...they weren't making any money. With the price cut, they removed the fitness assessments, the testing (I got lactate threshold testing because I raced bikes), the nutrition consultations, and the every 6 week programming. I got all that for $200/month.
Now it's $100/month for the gym. It's an awesome gym. Best equipment in town and lots of it. 7 squat racks. Multiple benches, etc. You can pay extra for a trainer, and nutrition consultations, but it's no longer included.

Anyone know what a membership at WHC on Macleod just south of 42nd runs per month?
I used to be a member there 6 years ago but I'm sure prices have changed, and I would rather have an idea of cost, rather than meeting with them blind.

Stay away from the Melcor YMCA in Crowfoot. Just an absolute #### show. Way too many members, and has seemed to turn into subsidized babysitting. Can't find a babysitter, no problem, i'll bring my 3 year old to the gym and let them play on the equipment while I jump on the elliptical.

How's Fit4Less? Is it completely bottom of the barrel?

Really just looking for a treadmill/stair climber and a shower.

I've been going for over a year and a half now, and it's got even worse over the past few As soon as this month membership is over, i'm going try somewhere else. I don't understand why this place doesn't even enforce their own rules. Unattended children at the gym, get them the #### out of there as per your rules. It's not like it's cheap to go there. At $80 a month, I can go basically anywhere for that price point.

The other night there was a a 8-9 year old (my estimate) on the assisted pull-up machine while people were lining up to use it. Three of us stood there in disbelief thinking this kid is going to seriously hurt himself and finally intervened. Kids mom was on the complete opposite side of the gym on her phone on the elliptical, and was not very impressed at the guy who brought her kid back to her telling her he shouldn't be left unattended. Staff should be dealing with this. It's a nightly occurrence now.

I haven't been in a few years, but it used to always be rammed full of gym monkeys staking out the entire area surrounding the free weights. The cardio equipment was usually busy, but not so bad that you couldn't get a machine.
No change rooms, no water fountain, two very small washrooms.
Ultra cheap though, so I guess you have weigh the positives and negatives.

Hi All,

Just curious what everyone is paying these days for a non corporate Goodlife membership? I've been a member at Kensington Fitness and absolutely love the atmosphere but find that the hours don't run as late as I sometimes need and I am out of town alot these days and the ability to workout in Edmonton without having to worry about drop-in's etc. for various gyms would be ideal.

If anyone is willing to share what they are currently paying I would greatly appreciate it as google info seems a bit dated.

The solution to so many gym gear grinders is going early morning imo. It takes a while to get used to, but eventually becomes habit and not that difficult. Way fewer people early morning and virtually everyone there is focused at getting their workout in. It also forces you to be more efficient and about your business- unless you somehow have the ability to get in crazy early for a long workout.

I've always wanted to do this, but getting up at 5 am to work out in the morning just doesn't seem worth it to me. I stick to lunch time or after work.

The solution is to buy your own equipment(if you have the space) and never have to deal with other people ever again.

I'm the opposite... I like having lots of different types of equipment available to me (stuff you could never have at home), and I like the social scene of it. I've made so many friends and met lots of nice people just going regularly to my gym.
