Peters is very measured in his shortening of the bench but there has not been a scenario where a regular ended up sitting on the bench for as long as Kylington did since at least early December (which is as far back as I checked).

The only players to sit for that long have been Quine after his bad giveaway that got him demoted and Prout when we had 7D.

I'm hoping for the best but I don't think Kylington will be a Flame at some point in the near future.

(hopefully he becomes a Heat at least and can stay in the org, maybe Brad swung a trade for the depth LD that he has apparently been looking for)

Turned out fine, just a little baffling.
I've stopped questioning how Bill shortens his bench. He sees things we don't obviously. If we keep winning i won't worry about it.

(Yes, I know, I am being a downer )
No, it is a legit concern. I still think Backlund is a high end 3rd line C and this team would be a bigger threat if you could bring in a 2nd line C like a Duchene or Schenn.

That was the closest to 'proven NHL goal scorer' Neal has looked this season.

I don't really see any issue.
Yes, hitting the top corners is one of the skill tests at the All Star Game.

I recall Vancouver's Pettersson making the same shot in the last game with the Canucks.

Guys like him and Johnny, Crosby, and Kane can score from ridiculous spots most players can't. They are going to score those type of goals on any goalie.

When was the last time a team finished a season with four 90+ point forwards?

Had to be back when goalies still tried to make "skate saves" and wore rolled up newspapers on their legs for pads.
in 1995-1996, the Penguins had 4 players finish the season with 90+ points.

Mario had 161 (in 70 games), Jagr had 149, Francis had 119, and Nedved had 99.

Honourable mention to Sandstrom with 70 in 58 games.

I believe that Lindholm’s +2 puts him in sole possession of second place in +/-.

Giordano +30
Lindholm +27

Brodie will go to a tie for 6th in +/-, and Gaudreau will be 10th.

...Wut? A young D made a mistake and his veteran head coach sat him down.

It only looks like the Flames have no secondary scoring because the top line has been so insane. I looked at Toronto and Winnipeg to compare them against Calgary and counted the goal totals ignoring the top 4 scorers

TOR - 76
CGY - 69
WPG - 63

So secondary scoring could be better, but it's not dire. I also have a hunch we might see guys like Bennett and Jankowski hit another level in the playoffs once teams start focusing heavily on the top line

Gaudreau is third amongst forwards, after Lindholm and Sissons.

I was thinking tonight, can we be thankful for Glen Gulutzan’s horrific tenure as Flames HC?

He played Brodie in the wrong spot for two years, which resulted in Gio inflating Hamilton’s value dramatically, which landed us Lindholm and Hanifin. Now he’s helping to sewer our most hated rival.

He’s really gone up in my books!
