Don"t let all this "bad hit" talk" distract you from the fact that Globo Gym blew a 4-1 man advantage over young Justin to let Average Joes come back to win the ADAA International Dodgeball Tournament, creating one of the greatest upsets in sporting history or that E=NG.

There's no doubt that Lucic is a heavyweight. I think it's a matter of he's disinterested in playing that style anymore. I'm not sticking up for him or anything but things change when you have kids.

Ooooh. Think again:
While this is the tribute thread to Edmonton's no-goodness, allow me to introduce for your consideration The Insane Ramblings of Vancouver Mouth-breather David Pratt.

That was a vicious elbow by McDiver, and then he was off balance when Lindholm gave him a shove in the back.

I had a conversation with an Oilers fan today claiming the following:
McDavid
Drasaitl
Kassian (playing on McDavid's line)
Kassian 2.0 (Kassian type of player playing on McDavid's line)
IS BETTER THAN HAVING
Gaudreau
Monahan
Tkachuk
Lindholm

Is this an actual player? Or have Oilers fans become so severely psychologically abused that they are now suffering from visual hallucinations?

It may or not work out, but that is the only path I see where someone competent could try and save the current team.

IMO its more fluid than this...here is the depth chart. It's honestly not that bad. It has holes, but it's not garbage. If filled in with a mediocre standard (and lets face it, thats probably the most we can expect from the oilers), the oilers have a mediocre playoff team and with McDavid on a playoff team...well they have an outside chance to go on a decent playoff run over the next six years.
Hopkins-McDavid-XXXX
XXXX-Draisaitl-XXXX
XXXXX-Yamamoto-Pulujarvi
Khaira-Brodziak-Chiasson
Nurse-Larsson
Klefbom-Sekera
Russell-Bouchard
The problem is that it's hard to plug the holes because of the dead-weight. But $7m of deadweight comes off after this year, $7m after next year and then there will be a compliance buyout for Lucic as well, so that gives a total of $20m for cap space. Over two years, you probably get another $6m in cap space. Assuming a back-up costs $1.5 and a third liner is $3.5...they have $21m for three top six players and a starting goalie
Deadweight
Lucic - 6.00 x 4
Spooner 3.1 x 1
Manning 2.25 x 1
Benning 1.90 x 1
Talbot: 4.5 x 0
Koskinen: 2.5 x 0
So if the Oilers get a competent GM, they could be on their way to mediocrity for the 2020-2021 season

Its great to throw up a depth chart like that, but lets look deeper into it.
Poolparty is awful, Yamamoto has one thing in common with Gaudreau, other then that he looks like a real long shot to play in the NHL. Chiasson is having a year with a +30% shooting percentage, which if you play him on any onther line then McDavid probably vanishes.
On their blueline, Larsson has been not great for a year, Nurse looks terrible. Sekera might be done according to Oiler booster Stauffer, I wouldn't count him on a depth chart as anything, I think they can't afford to rush Bouchard, I'm still not impressed with his skating.
They have no goaltending next year and won't have the money to pay starter money.
Outside of McDavid, Hopkins and Draisaitl, there's nothing there.

Nah, that is garbage. 3 top 6 forwards and basically 0 bottom six that have done anything. A bunch of 3-6 defencemen and potentially no goalie for next year.
