Will do, thanks!

Also, I downloaded one of the add-on things that makes your city 27 tiles (or larger, I can't recall) so I think that might have a LOT to do with it.

my issue with the game was that it was too easy, while sim cities was too hard. cities XL was even worse, it was basically just a pure sandbox with zero difficulty.
im curious to see how the new transportation expansion changes things

Yeah, it's really a sandbox game. The difficulties come from trying to achieve goals you set for yourself.

(Turning a cars-first city into a public transport city, solving traffic jams in a certain area, setting specific goals for a certain area etc.)

Has anyone tried the new DLC and content? Looks like a lot of stuff has been. An industry DLC, mass transit DLC, etc. Redownloading the game now and giving it a go.

The DLC's are generally fantastic. the industry one, in specific, changes the game in a massive way. Basically, think supply chain management.

So if one were to get into this game brand new, should I get all the DLC or would it be way too overwhelming?

I would get the DLC because they improve the game substantially. I'm referring to the "big" DLC's: Transportation, Green, Industries, etc. The cheaper ones merely add some buildings, etc. The developers (smartly) took a lot of ideas/improvements from the workshop and incorporated them into the DLC's.

I should note that you don't have to purchase the DLC's to receive the game improvements as many of them were patched into the base game. I just think they DLC's are a really good value.

it also supports the studio, which, i think has merit here. its a masterful game that deserves the studio to be rewarded.

I'm contemplating getting the "New Player Bundle". I already have the base game so it would be $14 for Snowfall and Natural Disasters. The only DLC I have is After Dark that I got with last month's Humble Bundle.

Keep in mind I have neither of those DLCs but from what I've read Mass Transit and Green Cities are the better DLCs to grab. Snowfall doesn't add seasons to the game it just gives you a snow map. Natural Disasters is probably a good pickup if you're looking to make the game more challenging.

I ended up buying the bundle and Mass Transit for $20. I'll probably pick up the others on a later sale except for the radio stations which I don't really care about.

Natural Disasters is fun because you need to maintain emergency shelters and early warning systems to mitigate the damage.

I agree about Snowfall. I've bought all the DLC except that one and the radio stations. It doesn't seem worth the cost.

The best DLC's in order are (imo): Mass transit, Industries, Green Cities, Disasters, and Snowfall. Snowfall just because it adds the "heating" requirements, which is a new challenge.

That's fair. I ended up buying a couple DLCs because of this thread bump lol.

It's amazing how much better this game is than the most recent SimCity. I just wish I had more time to dedicate to it.

I wish I was more creative
I run out of ideas quickly, or my ideas don't work then I get discouraged.
