This interview is a beautiful train-wreck of every cliche there is, as if reading off a checklist, yet not forming sentences of any kind in any way. Beach volleyball from Top Gun thinks that was awkward. Rocky and Apollo splashing on the beach are embarrassed for them.

Poor Scott is despondent. Not even cajoled by an offer of free carting to turn the frown upside down.

It is hilarious that it is only now starting to occur to the media hacks up there that the issue may just be a lack of talent.

I'm betting he's entirely grateful to not be there anymore and still getting paid.
Look, I never thought much of T-Mac as a coach, I thought that he didn't do much with a power house lineup in San Jose.
However this team has a habit in the locker room of quitting on coaches, no matter who's in the room.
I'm also willing to bet that he's glad not to be coaching a team with a generational player anymore, because people tend to ignore the crap around that player.

Who would of thought handing the 19 year old the captaincy would end up biting them in the ass. The kid stood no chance.

Yeah, MacLellan was obviously numb and firing him was probably a sweet release.

If I'm Hitch tomorrow night, I don't dress McDavid and Draisaitl and tell the rest of the players, that they can't get away with thinking da Conna and Draisaitl have got this.
Then when Kevin Lowe calls and tells Hitch to dress him, pick a fight and get fired.

I still think Hitchcock took the job because he really didn’t think an organization could be as toxic as everyone in the league on the inside has said (and because it was a short term gig), and had to see it for himself, being the lifelong hockey guy he is.
After tonight, no doubt that he sees how terminal the problem is, with talented players literal shells of what they could be due to organizational incompetence and ego over the past years setting up a structure that is basically destroying any sort of hope and talent in these 20something year old hockey players and has for a decade or more.
That’s why he says he doesn’t want to say any more and get in any more trouble, because the blame leads back to the guys signing his cheque and he may as well quit.

The Oilers... ruining the best NHL prospects for about a decade now.

Either that, or he just can't shove that much truth out his piehole without setting his tongue on fire. As the kids were saying a little while back, he can't even.

i think Hitch has such a huge ego thinking he is the best coach out there and surely he can improve the team and just look at al accolades that will come his way. he now realizes that it doesnt matter who coaches these guys
