Not a big deal with the multiple agent releases, imo. This is part and parcel to having a deep team that's contending with the best in the league. We haven't seen it much in recent years because we've mostly needed every decent forward to play a top 9 position.

Now there's competition and competitors aren't happy when they aren't on top. That's a good attitude to have from your players despite what the negative headlines and social media backlash will have you believe.

I want a contending team with players who are pissed off if their not playing.

Honestly, I think a lot of teams would love to add Frolik going into the playoffs.

I will be really disappointed if we trade him and don't fill the gap with similar player. But that would be like trading a boat for the mystery box.

Czarnik is really, really bad. Doesn't move the needle at all. Frolik should only be out of the lineup for Czarnik if he gets hurt again.

Anyway, the Flames shouldn't be moving anybody right now. Frolik's exactly the kind of guy that they need for a run and they need to keep all the depth they can. The Flames should be adding somebody to push Backlund into the bottom-six.

If I recall, it was before the whole Bennett thing. R.E Czarnik.

I think players of his caliber can net a 3rd or 4th round pick from a contending team looking for bottom 6 depth. Alexander Petrovic fetched a conditional 3rd round pick today and Frolik is a much more established player. Mind you the Oilers are probably the worst measuring stick you can use.

Well it’s pretty clear that Peters has been trying to do some shuffling with lines 2-4 to get something to stick. The opportunities have been there, so when a player bitches about ice time it’s not like they seized the chances they had. So I don’t have a lot of compassion for those complaints.

Problem is despite the stars at the top of the lineup there isn’t that much flexibility. Basically you can’t have two slow players on each line. And Monahan and Tkachuk already claim those spots on the top two lines. That’s why Neal hasn’t worked out on either of the two top lines in the third spot. So the first and second line work best with speed players, specifically Lindholm and Bennett.

Two guys with no trade value and worse yet, neither on expiring deals. Not very attractive to other clubs looking to rebuild unless you are taking on a bunch of term for a veteran.

Which hasn’t worked out great so far for this club.

I don’t think the players are comparable. Petrovic makes $1.9 million and is on an expiring contract. Frolik counts $4 million against the cap this year and next.

Teams right now look at Frolik’s contract and see next year as dead money IMO.

Dont think the Oilers would trade us Puljujarvi. That has to much risk for them.

Some of you underrate the trade value of Frolik and Stone IMO. Both are solid NHLers and both have positive value. Stone is worth a 2nd when healthy if I had to guess. Frolik is certainly worth more than a 5th-6th

A second for Stone when healthy? Brad would take that laughing.

Stone was worth a 3rd and a 5th just two short seasons ago, and I doubt that value has increased. I imagine he might fetch a 4th if he was dealt after the season.

Interesting

That's kind what agents do, though. They're supposed to advocate for their clients.

Very true, and further there is no shame or judgement about being a healthy scratch on a competing team.

Frolik is a good player but he slots in and fits in certain areas of the roster and situations that at the moment are performing well. He'll have to wait and be ready for his opportunity to be slotted in and then make the best of that opportunity when it arises.

I dont see it as shaming a player or playing favourites as much as being patient with the recently injured player while not fiddling with a roster that is performing well at the moment.
