You joke, but I've seen more than a few Comeau jerseys at the Dome over the years, both #10 and #17.

Very interesting how this is delivered. This isn't the owner or his representative getting caught or overheard by some right place at right time getting wind of this and going rouge in reporting it.
It's a preplanned, scathing, "call up this writer and let him know how pissed we are and include all the details" article.
Not sure how the toothpaste goes back in the tube in Dallas. At best, the owners will say he was emotional and the players involved will say they like an owner with passion and they are responsible for playing toa higher standard.... but man in this day and age it's not done.
Cammalleri got traded the same day he ripped the Habs, Phil Sauvé didn't last song after being on Sutters bad side, Lack didn't last too long after Peters ripped him and Perron last another 30 games while the Oilers found trading partners after he ripped the team.

Weird, aren't the stars needing to negotiate Seguin
's next contract soon??
Curious public bashing...

Nope. He signed a big 8-year extension in September that starts next season. He also has a full NMC for the entire length of the contract (which became retroactively effectively this season). They might be trying to poison the well so he'll want a trade.

Nope. He's signed through 2026-27 at almost 10 million per year.

very surprised at this...like the Downgoesbrown tweet, this is ballardesque (or Steinbrenner/JerryJones)
owners have other channels they can go through to pass on their message - going out publicly with such a scathing comment is pretty uncommon...
seems more like a 'scorched earth' strategy as opposed to something you start with..would not be surprised if something happens tradewise after this.

Worst thing about this is we need Dallas to hold things together and keep the one man team edmonton out of the 8th playoff spot. I have no faith in Minnesota getting their crap together enough to hold down the spot. Vancouver has been far better than I expected this year, but they're still too thin to keep it going down the stretch I think.
Edmonton is ridiculously thin, but if mcduffus is healthy that makes up for a lot. So common Dallas, pull it back in!

Kings have won 4 in a row, I wouldn't be surprised if they caught and passed the Oilers.

I get that maybe they think this will light a fire under these players but if it doesn't they probably have to look at trading one of them and airing the dirty laundry doesn't exactly help their bargaining position. They could have just quietly shopped one of them instead.

Who cares about keeping star players happy if they aren't playing up to their potential (i.e. contracts)?
I'm sure there's several examples of NHL players happily taking their paychecks, going out partying and their putting in a half-effort hungover the next day. But that's not the way you win.
26M on two players next year in actual cash. I can understand the frustration if you thought they were half-assing it.

Based on today's comments, they may want to use a different video game to describe him now.

These comments are not made with the hopes of trading these guys. They want to light a fire but if the relationship goes sour due to these comments they could want out?

Oh man how good would Benn look in flames silks. That would instantly make them a true contender. Would never work cap wise but one can dream.

I don't see how the damage from this can be repaired. It was in poor taste by the owner and will only drive a wedge between player and ownership.

Not if he decides to float around with his ginormous guaranteed contract. We need to avoid these types of unmotivated lazy loafing egos.
