It's the Calgary Flames effect. Have you noticed that lately every team that beats the Flames goes on a little run afterward? Vegas did it, Dallas did it, now the Greasers are doing it. The Flames are so powerful, so influential, that beating them puts players in such a mentally advantageous spot that their performance actually surges for a time.
 It will pass. Fear not.

Nothing can save the Edmonton Oilers. Not even the Calgary Flames effect.

 Nothing can. Nothing.

 Or something like that.

The Calgary pounding of Vegas two games prior was what started their run (maybe like Pittsburgh against Calgary). To the extent Calgary manhandling Edmonton helped cause a coaching change (though I think it was more their loss to LA) maybe being beaten by Calgary is what helps a team.

The Edmonton Oilers have won 11 times in regulation and have played eight times in overtime.
 The Flames have won 17.

 Edmonton is no good.

Is there anything more satisfying than scoring on an Oiler fan in NHL19 with Taylor Hall?

The kind of league wide press the No Goods wish they were getting 365. Only in Edmonton will the Oilers be "elite".

I just feel that I need to point this out: no matter what the Calgary Flames do or don't, the Edmonton Oilers still is, and will remain, no good.

All he has to do is skate to the opponents net and put his stick on the ice. That's literally all that is expected of him. Hes the type of player that will just go ahead and do that and not try to do more.

Oilers broadcasts and Fox News are very similar.
McDavid and Trump can do no wrong.

Oilers back in the win column again tonight. Bummer. I anticipate they'll probably win their next two games against the Nucks and Blues as well, as those teams are some kind of awful.
 Flames better win tomorrow.

I guess winning while getting outshot every game is sustainable? Right Oiler fans? Remember that? Not a worry in the world about that team

Oilers are winning how the flames would win under gulutzan ('defensive' system with a one line offence). Got the result but would look iffy or even outplayed in doing it while their goalie was in god mode and routinely given a large workload.

If you want to know how that story ends, look at the flames second half of last season.

Don’t disagree, but if the goaltending stays hot they will win their share of games.

If Koskinen faulters at all than Oilers will come crashing down. They better hope he can keep it up.

Frankly, that's probably better (for us) long-term than them missing the playoffs and having another lottery pick in the next draft. At least if they're in the playoffs, they can't win the lottery again. I never trust that they won't win the lottery, no matter what the odds. Can you imagine how insufferable the Oilers' media would be if the team had both McDavid and Hughes?
